fast636,

No worries, the 1715 has all the codes used by Ford for those years inside.
When you plug your microtuner in, it reads your ecm code and matches it to it's memory and makes the changes based on which of the three tunes you choose to load.

Welcome to the boards
And have fun with your tuner

I had to jump back in with an edit, I see you posted earlier and thought I'd add some to the good response that you recieved. The early 1715 did like he said only had one tune in them. About mid Sept. of 2003 is when SuperChips started to ship the 3 tune model (there is a manufacture sticker date on the end) Also besure that if you buy a used one that the previous owner did in fact return it to stock programming. If he didn't, when you plug it in to your vehicle it will read VIN LOCKED and will not be any good to you. The unit can be returned to SuperChips to be reset, but that will cost you of coarse.

The 1715 was great, the main reason I switched to the sct6600 was because I found myself going from the performance tune to the towing tune quite often, also the 6600 gave me 5 tunes to work with, #0 89 oct. tow, #1 89 oct. performance, #2 91 oct. tow, and #3 91 oct. performance, and #4 87 oct.(stock). And the ease of switching between tunes was faster.

And of coarse Troyer Performance was able to custom tune the 6600 to my "vehicle and wants" for even more power than the 1715 could.

I sold my 1715 to a fellow and he reports back that he is very happy with it also.

These SuperChips tuners and Troyer Performance really wake-up the hidden power in the F-150 pickups.

Have a good one!
Any more questions, be sure to ask!

Gene

Is there any custom tunning avail with a 1715, or is it just out of the box and thats it.

thanks for the info and replies, most guys on here just want to trash your ideas and talk you into something else.

the truck is a 2001 with 71,000 on the odo, Have not experianced the sparkpulg problem as of yet and don't care to. Do you think that the 1715 would be a sound investment or should it be let alone. just looking for someone else's .02

I have the 1715 and a AF1 I likem .. but from what I have read here Troyer is the way to go … my next step will either be the Magnaflow SI/SO or a tunner from Troyer. Decisions ... Decisions ... Decisions

As "Fanuc" state'd you won't be disappointed with the 1715. It comes with 3 tunes that are written by SuperChips and are safe for all vehicles in all area's of the country, so there is some performance being left on the table going that way. With the 1715 you "the user" can adjust to your preference the transmission shift points and shift firmness, however the default settings are about right that come in it. You the user can also adjust for different tire size and gear sets to correct speedometer.

Now if you were to go to one of SuperChips custom programmers or chips then you need a expert like Mike Troyer to work with you and set it up for max power and performance, and he (Mike) has this down to a fine art of asking you the right questions and offering the right suggestions in the pre-purchase conference. Go to his web site and read-up on all the toys he has, and remember the prices are MSRP so be sure and call him and use your F-150 online name to get your discount.

That proably sounds like a sales pitch, but I don't work for him, or get anything out of it. Just one very happy customer!
