Got my 1714
Got my 1714
I received my tuner last night and rushed out and installed the 87 octane tune then took it out for a spin. I can tell you I am happy with the results, even on the 87 setting. The throttle lag improvement and firmer shifting alone made the purchase worth it. I want to install the 91 tune but I have a question, do I just run down the 87 octane in my tank until the check engine light comes on, then fill up with 91 and install the new program? My concern is driving any distance on the 87 tune with 91 octane in the tank, in this case from the gas station to my house to load the 91 tune. Should I first reload the stock setting then fill up with 91 octane?
Thanks
Thanks

It would be a good idea to run to less than 1/8 of a tank, then fill with 91 and drive a few miles to run the 87 out of the fuel system before loading the 91 tune. Good luck
I have been happy with my Superchips tuner except for one thing; the check engine light will not go off! I get a #P1000 code. I drove my truck for over 1000 miles, 13 hour trip included, for a hunting trip. On the way home, the check engine light came on. I drove another 10 hours sraight with the light on. Been that way for two weeks. Any suggestions?

Hmmm....I haven't got a check engine light yet, did your come on right after installing the tune or did it take a while?

The speed shop set the computer for me at HI-PERFORMANCE. I drove it for over a week commuting to and from work logging 400 miles. I then changed it to the TOW setting and then drove 13 hours straight to Oregon, while pulling a 16' fully enclosed utility tailer spanning 800 miles. Spent the week driving trails while hunting, 600 miles. On the way home, after driving 200 miles, the light came on. I re-set the computer 3-4 times this past weekend to 87-TUNE finding the shift points and pressures that suit my driving style. The light has been on for 2 weeks. So I guess I'll wait it out another week or so to see what happens.
