what mods to get Mike??

I had 1997 supercab 4x4, now I just got a 04 screw 4x4. It has an airaid on it, just wondering what mods should I do next? The 1997 had true dual exhaust, ign. upgrade, elect fans and an airaid. I would like duals out the back but not too loud. I also pull a 5500lbs travel trailer to go camping too. Thanks for the info. Victor

Hi Victor,

Thanks for your post, & congratulations on your next new F-150 - the 2004 SuperCrew 4x4 is a 6200 lb beast empty, and can sure use some help!

We generally recommend doing the mods in the order of best bang for the buck - meaning tuning, the intake kit, and then the cat-back exhaust as the first 3 mods. I also like knocking down the parasitic losses with the E-fans & underdrive pulleys as well. The basic order of bang for the buck hasn't changed with the new F-150, but you do have to be far more careful with intake kits in general, as almost all of them make the 5.4 3V engines run lean, so we correct that in our custom tuning if need be.

If you can swing it, what I would suggest to get started would be to take advantage of our Stage 1 package, which is our Troyer Performance custom tuning, the Air Force One intake kit (or you can use Airaid, but the AF! makes more power and uses beautiful polished aircraft grade T304 stainless steel for almost the same cost), and then the T304 S/S cat-back exhaust system. That way you have the Top 3 best bang for the buck mods working together as a proper system, which allow the engine to breathe much better on both the intake and exhaust side, as well as tuning to add significant power and get rid of that terrible lack of throttle response inherent in the newer "drive by wire" 2004 & up F-150's.

If you can't swing our Stage 1 package, at least go with our combo of our custom tuning and the AF1 intake kit, as those 2 mods will definitely help wake up that truck in a manner you can feel.

The single most important things by far are the tuning & the intake, and we also offer a special combo deal on our custom tuning and the AF1 intake kit.

Of course, we can always work out a custom version of any of our Stage packages to fit your budget, needs & desires - the hot tip is to give us a call when you get a chance to go over this in more detail & work up exactly what fits your situation. Our number is listed below.

I hope this brief info helps, good luck with your new truck & we look forward to working with you!
