Data logging with the Xcal2 itself
Data logging with the Xcal2 itself
Who has done this? I was planning on data logging using the Xcal2 but have no idea how to do it. The instructions I got with the tuner don't cover that and I just had Crystal at TP email me a copy of the data logging instructions and they are the exact same instructions that came with the tuner. According to this post the Xcal2 is supposed to be able to datalog:
"One last point on datalogging that I think will make you happy to hear - very soon there will be a firmware update available for download for the 9400 (XCalibrator 2) that will allow you to datalog a certain number of parameters **on-board** the unit - it's limited to a maximum of 300K storage space in terms of it's internal memory, but that is enough to datalog what's needed at the dyno, while the dyno is getting the A/F's simultaneously. Now you still need to transfer that info over to a PC of course, so send us that data, but that does indeed help. As soon as that is thoroughly tested & available for general public release, we'll let everyone know here with a post."
So if I go to the SCT website and download the firmware update for the Xcal2, will they have instructions for using the tuner to datalogg. Has anyone done this yet?

I didn't know if I was supposed to have the truck running before connecting or visa versa. I was doing R&R myself
Anyway, I figured out I had to have the truck running then attach the data cable to the truck connection. Then there were so many things to check mark to log that it was impressive as well as confusing. I did in fact find a demo on SCT website on , I guess, the basic things to check mark for logging. My problem at the moment is that my Xcal2 is firmware rev 1.10 and I can't get the firmware 1.13 update to work.Anywaz.....keep us posted...
Race
I need to do all my datalogging on the unit itself, but have yet to get clear instructions on how to do it. Or maybe I just need to find a helpful 12 year old to do it for me? The instructions I just got after calling only covered datalogging with a PC in addition to the xcal2. Maybe there was a miscommunication when I called? I'll call back again on Monday. After reading the SCT forums it seems that the firmware update to allow you to datalog using only the xcal2 isn't out yet, or at least that is what I got after reading the various posts there. If it's not out yet I hope it comes out within a month, cuz I only have 27 days left to get in my datalogging to be under the 60 day deadline.
