data loging without air and fuel numbers
Service Manager told me if it is a lean condition, which is what they say is the reason for the rough idle, then thats just the way it is and that some of these trucks have to be that way for SMOG purposes. So datalog it is and let Mike work his magic.
P.S. I read the directions for Datalogging last night and I sure hope it is easier than it sounds.

Really? I hadn't thought about that. They are just the directions that Troyer e-mailed me when I ordered my XCAL2. But I guess you might be right I'll have to check.
Ok you are right, thanks for the heads up MGDfan. It's right there in black & white on the directions. Sorry BLYOTH you will have to contact Troyer for them.

Thanks any way MHP. I wasn't trying to get you to break any laws or anything. It sounds like if I want to safely use a XCal 2 on my truck I need to find a dyno and learn how to datalog. I just wanted to get a peek at the datlog instuctions to see if I thought I would be able to do it before I wasted any more time trying to locate a dyno in my area. So far the closest dyno I have found is 200 miles one way. I yet to try and contct them to see if they can figure A/F ratios.
Hi fellows,
As MGD correctly pointed out, our datalogging instructions & documentation are indeed copyrighted, so they cannot be freely distributed like that. Nobody can post them on the Internet, or email them to someone else, etc.
I know that you're all good guys & that none of you were trying to break our copyright intentionally - sometimes people just don't think about these things in this day & age of the Internet, so here's some quick info on that just FYI....................
The only people who can get those docs of ours are our custom tuning customers, so the only way to get those docs is to order your custom tuning from us - that is a specific benefit that we provide to our customers, it is *not* something that can be distributed to anyone else. That documentation is strictly the property of Troyer Performance and is provided to our custom tuning customers for the sole purpose of helping them obtain the information required for us to finalize their custom tuning - and that information is sent to every one of our Troyer Performance custom tuning customers.
It is clearly noted in very large, bold typeface right on the very first page, so that it cannot possibly be missed by anyone, that they are strictly for the use of our customers and only for the specific purpose of providing us with the data required to finalize their custom tuning, and cannot be distributed in any way, shape or form to anyone else. Just as an aside, this also shows who really has and has not actually read those docs, as that notice prohibiting any sort of distribution cannot possibly be missed by anyone who has them - it's right there in huge bold type on Page 1, and the copyright notice is repeated at the bottom of each and every page.
This datalogging is in fact very easy to do, thanks to the quality of our documentation - it's also fun & educational. Our instructions are written out in step-by-step order, along with complete explanations in an easy-to-comprehend narrative what you are doing and exactly how to do it. It is literally written specifically for those who know absolutely nothing about what datalogging is or how to do it, and anyone who can read & follow instructions can easily datalog their vehicle with those docs. It may seem a bit of work when you first look at them, but once you actually get started, you find out just how easy this is to do.
I hope that info helps a bit, & good luck!
