Superchip vs, Diablo

Could someone give me an honest opinion on the differences between these two programmers. Would I go wrong with either of them? Also, Is there a more complete manual for the superchip? I have an 05 Excursion.

I had the same question not long ago. Most of these guys seem to use the superchips stuff. I, unfortunately, cannot use a diablo predator programmer since I have a 98 Navigator and they don't make one for it. Superchips said they made one for it but with all my mods it needed a custom tune, and their custom tuning unit wasn't open for at least 30 days. I didn't really understand why, but that was straight from the horses mouth. After looking into all of them, I would say use the diablo. From the questions I asked and the answers I got, superchips seemed a little disorganized, hypertech was expensive and unhelpful, but Diablo answered all my questions and aided me in selecting what was best for my application, which ended up being a Deltachip with a custom burn.

Also, is that gas or diesel? If its diesel, look at the diablosport customers rides and see the excursion diesel smokin the tires with their power programs

When did you contact superchips? recently, or a couple of years ago?

For a modified vehicle, you will want to contact superchips custom tuning, or one of thier dealers, such as this site sponsor. Superchips inc only works on near stock vehicles and does not do custom tuning anymore, so that is probaly why they were unorganized when you contacted them.

Do a search on here and you will see lots of satisfied customers with SCT products. If a company can't offer you a flasher for a flashable OBD2 vehicle, you have to ask yourself , do they have the full understanding of how everything works.

I contacted them last week. From their people (I talked to three different CSR's) I would have to say I get the impression that 1) They don't know whats going on 2) although I know its not true, they sound like a startup company 3) I was on hold 20 minutes before someone answered the phone, and there was no 800 number it was long distance.

That was a, well, ****ty first impression they gave me and I immediately walked away from SC for that reason. I called diablosport, they answered the phone, no automated response like at SC. They immediately got me to the person I needed, who thoroughly explained all my options and even emailed me directions to my local closest dealer. Now, this was some freakin serivce! And, to top it all off it cost over $100 less than what SC had said I needed, custom tuned!

So in my experience with this, SC dropped the ball and lost a potential customer.

Hi swicinc,

Actually, the best results will be had by using our Troyer Performance custom tuning - we load that into SCT hardware, which for your vehicle would be the XCalibrator 2.

The off-the-shelf standard tuning being discussed in this thread isn't in the same ballpark - that type of tuning is made by companies that make hundreds, if not literally thousands, of different applications - whereas we've specialized in tuning these F-series platform vehicles like your Excursion for many years.

Remember, it's NOT the hardware that determines your results - it's the actual *tuning* that determines how your vehicle will respond, it's never in the hardware. On the hardware side of things, there simply isn't' anything to compare with the XCalibrator 2's capabilities, from it's full diagnostic capabilities to high-speed datalogging, modular design, USB connectivity, firmware update capability & so much more, it's simply the best hardware you can get for this purpose - which is why we use it.

We don't' care what the name on the outside is, what we care about are the actual *results* which is why we test & use only the products that do the best job, so our customers can count on getting the best results.

I would suggest taking some time and reading thru some of the many posts here from other owners who have spent their hard-earned money to see how they feel about their results - you will quickly see that most people come to us for our custom tuning, due to our expertise in these vehicles & being well known for our results.

If you'd like to give us a call at our number listed below, we'll be happy to go over all of this in proper detail with you, explain all of the features, benefits, your cost as a registered member of F-150 Online, etc., so you can give it some thought - we;re happy to help.

Thanks for dropping by, & congrats on your 2005 Excursion!
