I have a 2001 F-150 Supercrew and am thinking about getting a chip. Do all of the superchips require a higher fuel octane? Why? What are the best brands? Best for the money? Thanks.

 

The BIG DOG on the block is the XCal2. It’s the #1 “bang for the buck” mod, no exceptions. As far as fuel octane goes, Troyer Performance does three custom tunes specifically for your trucks PCM code and they can be for any octane fuel you choose.

In my XCal2 I have an 87-octane performance tune, a 93-octane tow-preferred tune and a 93-octane performance tune but you’ll have the option to switch them up to suit the needs of your local fuel supply.

does the troyer performance xcal2 display 0-60 times or quarter mile time or anything like that that some of the other tuners do?

The XCalibrator 2 has all-new high speed datalogging (data recording) capability. Using the keypad, you can monitor and record (datalog) critical parameters by having the XCalibrator 2 connected to your vehicle's OBD-II port and your personal computer, using the "Live Link" software. (You can also view data informally using the Xcalibrator 2's built-in LCD display.)

The XCalibrator 2 has both end user adjustment and high speed data logging capability. Using the keypad, a future firmware update - coming soon - will allow you to make changes to your timing, fueling, fuel injector size, and dozens of other parameters. You can also monitor and data log all critical parameters by both connecting the XCalibrator 2 to your PC and using the SCT Live Link software, or by using the built-in LCD display. Currently only PC datalogging is supported, but the standalone datalogging will be available in August with a firmware update.
