XCAL2 and 5.4L 2V

I am looking to buy a used F150...2001 through 2003 with a 5.4L. I was wondering if the XCAL2 gives as good performance gains for the 2V as it does the 3V. It probably doesnt since the 04-05 models are 'de-tuned', but I was just wondering.

I have the 9100 tuner and it was night and day difference. As long as it is tuned by the meastro I can garantee you'll love it. I think that the Xcal 2 probably just has more options than my little bit older version 9100.

Good luck.

Cool man, thanks. I have dealt with Troyer before. I had a V6 F150 and I had a chip from Mike in there...was very happy. I have a mustang now, but tomorrow I just might be driving this: CLICK IT

Great...I love my 03 SuperCrew FX4. I'm thinking about starting over and getting the new F-150 and going with the supercharger and everything, but I love my truck so much I really don't want to get rid of it. I may stick with it and just dump some more money into it and keep it for a long time.

The XCal2 is probable the best bet because of its versatility but any hand held programmer would work just fine with TP’s custom tunes loaded in.
Mike is the tune maestro!

Hi kr1mson k1ng,

Actually, ALL of these trucks are "de-tuned," so it's not only the 2004 & newer trucks - they ALL are, and seriously so.

The primary difference between the 2004 & up and the pre-2004's is that the newest trucks with the 5.4 3V engine can gain more power on 87 octane than the 5.4 2V trucks do - the difference on premium gas isn't nearly as much.

Trust me, going with our custom tuning in the XCalibrator 2 will wake that 5.4 2V truck up very nicely - even moreso than our chip did for that 4.2 V6 F-150 of yours years ago 0- and as always, you get a special discount from us on our tuning products since you're a registered member here (and a repeat customer).

Good luck & talk to you soon!
