Xcal2 hp and torque gains.

I heard a lot about the Xcal2 but i didnt see anything related with power gains. How much will be the Hp and torque gains with the stronger tune possible for a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT 5.4 ?

It's not what the XCalibrator 2 can do, it's the actual person who is doing the *tuning* that determines the results, of course.

But just to give you some kind of idea of what we're getting from the 5.4 3V engines in general (and so far, the LT's we've done have had very similar codes to 2005 F-150's, of course), normally the 5.4 3V's pick up an easy 25 Hp on 87 octane, and 40+ Hp on premium gas - and that's at the rear wheels. Torque-wise, about 40 lbs.ft. on 87 and 70+ lb/ft. on premium are numbers we have seen. But of course, proper tuning and improving performance and raw acceleration is about *far* more than just peak power numbers. We do quite a bit with the overall driveability, powertrain response times, etc., that affect how that vehicle responds *all* the time, as well as when you floor it. Hands down, our custom tuning is by far the single best bang-for-the-buck mod you'll ever make to that truck.

Give us a call at our number listed below with the computer code of the vehicle & we can go over this in proper detail with you - we'll be happy to help.

Congrats on owning a wicked-cool truck, by the way - those Lincoln Mark LT's are absolutely beautiful, a class ride!

Mike,
how exactly does the 1745 tuner compare to the xcalibrator in terms
of hp and torque gains? I think lots of member would like to hear your answer to this question.

Thanks JP, was wondering about 5.4L 87 octane tune. HP and TQ gains 1745 vs xcal.
Is there a dyno plot somewhere that shows this comparison?
Does anybody have real numbers?

Hello Suncoast,

This is a subject that we've been over many times already - hundreds of times (heck, maybe more). So what I suggest (and I don't mean to be 'short" with you on this) is using the SEARCH feature here to retrieve & review those kinds of posts, as there are quite a few of them - rather than me typing it all out all over again. You'll find the SEARCH feature in the upper right portion of your screen here.

Just in general - it doesn't matter much if it's the 1714 for the 2004 F-150's or the 1745 for the 2005 F-150's, the basic differences between them and our custom tuning are the same - we get much better results overall, it's simply the difference between an off-the-shelf tune and a thorough, in-depth custom tune. We get larger power gains, better performance improvements, a far more thorough tune with better driveability & powertrain response, etc. We also include as part of that package any adjustments or tweaks if someone wants to properly datalog the vehicle, and we provide all those instructions too - we literally teach a novice how to properly datalog in a thoroughly written document that every Troyer Performance custom tuning customer gets - in fact, there's a great post from Jesse Cudaback, I think he goes by the screen name "bigtruck311" or something like that - anyway, he made a post about that just here in the past couple of days about how the truck felt a bit better after he went to a local dyno and paid them to do all the datalogging, and we then made additional tweaks based on that data. Now in his case, he had a larger MAF meter, bigger injectors & other mods that really make it more necessary to datalog to get the full 100% out of the truck, but you get the idea.

If you want the cheapest tuner that does a great job, then go with the standard Superchips stuff - we're their oldest distributor and we think the world of those guys - I know many of them personally and they do a *great* job. We've worked with them on many projects for years & years.

But if you want the *best*, then that is had in our custom tuning - it's just much more thorough, as we're taking a lot more time tuning each individual truck - it's just a different 'world," so to speak, so it's really not "fair" to compare the two, if you get my drift.

It's a decision if you want the best, or if you want something that is going to do a good job at a lower price - anyone that wants the best performance, goes with our custom tuning.

Don’t know for sure if the comparison would hold true, but the 1714 lists 87-octane gains, that’s the tuner for the 04’s

They might be getting more out of the 1745

1714
