93 Octane Max Performance??????

I have an X-CAL 2 Troyer tuned with 87 max perf, 87 tow safe, and 93 tow safe. Currently running 93 tow safe all the time even while not towing. Just wondering if it is worth the time to contact Mike about getting a 93 max perf. tune?

I've had both installed and can't tell a difference. I'm sure there is but I would need a dyno or a trip to the track to tell. My opinion is to stick with the 93 tow.

as far as I know, the 93 tow shifts a lil less harsh and is designed to keep exhaust temps down, I couldn't tell much of a diff between the 2, but ofcourse I probably didn't give the 93 tow tune enough time to set in with the PCM before I changed it back to the 93 performance tune

Hi Jtoole,

The difference in power between our premium gas towing versus premium gas performance tuning is about 10-12 HP at the rear wheels, on average, throughout most of the power band - and yes, the shifting will be firmer at full-throttle in the performance tune as well.

So the question them becomes, is it worth it to you to have that additional power? If so, then give us a call & we can easily make that tuning change for you.

One other thing to consider is, do you have to frequently tow extremely heavy loads, and/or over mountains, etc? If you do, then I'd say to stick with the premium gas towing tune, just so you have absolute maximum power when towing those heavy loads - but if you do *not* do that kind of towing on any kind of regular basis, then if it were me, I'd want the additional power, as these trucks are pretty darned heavy - but that's just how I feel about it.

I hope that gives you a bit more info to think about, & feel free to call us to go over this.

Good luck!
