Hi deezy,
If you want the best results, hands down that is had with our Troyer Performance custom tuning -we've specialized in tuning this platform longer than anyone else, & so most owners come to us for their performance & tuning needs.
In terms of what hardware (tuning device) to use, that's a no-brainer, too - it's the XCalibrator 2 - it has room for 3 different custom tunes, and it also has so many features that nobody else has, such as USB connectivity, Internet & email update capabilities, a true **high-speed datalogger** built right in, complete diagnostic capabilities, and also has optional modules that will be coming out in the future you can add to it - thanks to it's modular design, it does not become obsolete in a year or so like many other units can. For example, later this year there will be a large touch-screen you can mount on the dash, and so many other things................
Suffice it to say that those who want the best come to us for our Troyer Performance custom tuning (even for bone-stock vehicles), simply because we deliver the highest safe & sustainable power & performance gains, the best overall driveability, etc., and use literally the world's best hardware to send that to you in - there XCalibrator 2.
Please take some time to read the posts in this section, you will quickly see many of our customers raving about their results & how much they love the XCalibrator 2 - and of course, please do feel free to give us a call at our number listed below, we'll be happy to go over all of this with you in proper detail.
As a registered member of F-150 Online, you also get a special discount on our Troyer Performance tuning products, and that helps to make the world's best F-series tuning even more affordable.
Best of luck whatever you decide,

Now that I've installed my Magnaflow SIDO (rear) and the AF1 (great results and no CEL for 400 miles now) I'm getting ready to order a tuner. However, I've had less than desireable luck with SCT (no reflection on Troyer) - but SCT has left me wanting more in customer service and (at least for the '05 Mustang GT's) the Diablo was the preferable tuner for many of the GT owners over there......going to check them both out - too bad Troyer doesn't work with the Diablo as well - sounds like he has lot's of experience with our F-150's. Just don't know if I can spend any more $$ on SCT products - after buying the Xcalibrator for my '05 Stang - then finding out a short time later the Xcal II came out - with no mention from SCT...and now I have an obsolete tuner......anyone with the Diablo tuner able to comment on thier experience???
I bought a Diablo tuner last October, before I started hanging out on this forum. It works great and I have no complaints. It's my first tuner so I cannot compare it to other brands.
I bought it at the webstore for the 'other forum'. But strangely enough, the webstore for this site is the exact same store (except there are no discounts and the background color is different).
If I were starting fresh today and wanted a tuner, I would most likely go with the Troyer XCal II.

JP - thanks - I do realize that - just still a bit sore that I wasn't told there was an XCal II in the works (I would have waited for sure). I have heard about the "upgrade" (no details or costs though from SCT) and will most likely go with Mike and the XCal II - just going to check out the Diablo 1st.

Rocky - who's tune are you running on your Diablo? I'm running DPG Industries on my Xcal I for my '05 Mustang....
predator
i got the diablo, predator tuner for my 5.4l, i'm very satisfied with it. it firmed up the shifts real good. my low end and throttle response increased alot, really noticeable. and i like that i get the diagnostics option on there too. very easy to use. always able to upgrade it if need be. this is my first tuner, so i'm not comparing it to anything else. i'm just adding my opinion here.
Hi Hot Lap,
As John mentioned, there's not a thing wrong with that XCalibrator - we can easily reprogram it for your F-150 (or any other 1996-2005+ FoMoCo vehicle) so that you get the best F-150 tuning - and there will also shortly be a trade-up program announced by the manufacturer that allows you to get into the XCalibrator 2 for a low cost.
Given all of that, I really don't see how you've lost out on anything. You have excellent low-cost options, both of which are far better than wanting to just be mad and thereby end up in effect forcing yourself to get less than the best results for the tuning of your other vehicle.
Just a bit of perspective for you - don't know if that will make you feel any better or not.
The reality is you are not in any kind of bad situation or at a dead end, etc.
Best of luck whatever you decide,
