I just thought I'd wait...i figured maybe the pcm wouldnt like the new tunes without the intake, since the tunes factor in the air force being installed..Maybe I'm all wet.......Either way, I wanted to wait and put them both on at the same time........
Hi COFX4,
GO ahead and install the tuning right away, you do not have to wait for the AF1 to install & enjoy your new tuning!
On the Air Force Ones for these 5.4 3V's - we are literally taking every unit that Air Force One can manufacture, as quickly as they can make them. It's just that they are so extremely popular (being the best, of course) that it's taking them some time to meet the pent-up demand, as a lot of 2004/2005 F-150 owners waited for the AF1 to come out and so many people want them. I hate that anyone has to wait on them, and "I feel your pain" - truly.
But hang in there, the AF1 will be getting out soon & is well worth the wait - and you can go ahead and use your new custom tuning right now, so load it up & have fun!

Mike, thanks for your post. I was thinking about giving you a call and checking whether I could load those tunes right away....good to hear
Maybe that will help me pass the time until it comes........
I've been waiting on the Air Force One too. I got the Magnaflow and the Xcalibrator a couple days ago, but I was thinking about doing everything all at once to get the full effect.

StdCabFX4 where are you at in Kansas? I'm in Augusta, if you're anywhere nearby I'd love to hear that Magnaflow once you have it installed....I've been thinking about getting one. I too am waiting on a AF1 from TP. I've also been waiting on my TP tuned XCal2 for 29 days & I just got an email today saying that it shipped.....guess it'll finally be Christmas in July when it shows up.
I've been as giddy as a school kid waiting for that thing to get here.....it's been an agonizing wait. Guess the folks at TP must be swamped this summer.

Hi Ragged05FX4,
Good to "see" you again!
Just FYI - we generally don't talk a lot about this in detail here, but there actually are some specific changes that we make when we know the truck is going to get an open intake & exhaust, that we don't do for a truck that is always going to use the factory intake & exhaust. I don't go into the specific details here....................
However, that doesn't mean that someone ordering our Stage 1 kit cannot go ahead and use that tuning until they get the other parts put on - nor does that mean that someone who later on installs a **properly designed intake kit** or cat-back exhaust absolutely *has* to have us make changes, if those are the only other mods done. It simply means that when we *know* a truck is going to have those changes, there are several things we do differently -
And as those who have our custom tuning (like you, I think?) know, we provide a complete package that includes spot-on tuning based on proper datalogging - no matter whether any modifications are done to the vehicle or not. We provide highly detailed datalogging instructions for each and every Troyer Performance custom tuning customer and the materials for them to submit that data to us, so that we can evaluate that data for any changes that would be beneficial. And the XCalibrator 2 allows our customers to datalog everything we need for a spot-on tune with 1 exception - the wideband A/F's - which are easily obtained thru any dyno facility or via a wideband A/F gauge.
The reality is the only people who do not get that kind of spot-on custom tuning work from us who order our custom tuning are simply those who don't do the datalogging. These days, that datalogging is much easier to do simply because of the availability of the XCalibrator 2, which has that datalogging capabilities built into it - so we'll hopefully be seeing more owners with stock & close-to-stock trucks who can't come here go ahead and do that datalogging, even though it's not actually required - we love to do spot-on tuning.
This is just some quick FYI stuff - you may know some of this already, and some of this may be a bit different from what we have discussed (if we have talked about this personally, I don't remember).
At any rate, if you would like to go over this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call & we'll be happy to go over the specifics, etc., & thanks for your post.
