In need of help!

First I would like to say that I was told that Mike is the man when it comes to tuning a vehicle. I have a 01L, built with ALOT of mods. I had it dyno tuned locally and got 510/600 on motor and 590/735 with nitrous. When I take the truck to the track, it runs like %$^%$&^%. It comes out of the hole great and after the 1-2 shift it falls on its face. I have emailed you to see if you would help and called. I should try more, I understand people are busy, I am one of those people also. I can't call before 6PM weekdays due to my job. This truck thing is driving me to the point of selling it if I can not resolve the problems. Is there a better time for me to call. Any help would be great, I would even consider driving to your facility to get it resolved. Sorry for the route I took to talk to you.
Rich

Hi Rich,

A *lot* of Lightning owners who spend all kinds of money with other shops come to us for us to get them fixed, straightened out & running right. You will need to contact us during normal business hours, which is Monday thru Friday from 9am to 6 pm, Eastern time.

And yes, you can always bring it here for us to check it out and do proper mobile datalogging & testing. That usually what it's going to take for us to find the real problem and get it fixed for you.

At this point, of course I have no idea what your truck's problems are, as we've never seen the vehicle - it's not possible to diagnose it over the phone or here online, or in email, as you could have any of a large number of issues going on there - so the smart thing is to bring it here to us and have us go over everything on it properly.

So just give our staff a call and tell them you "spoke" with me here on F-150 Online, and that I asked you to make an appointment to bring the vehicle in for us to take a look at. for you. They can set up an appointment time for you to bring the vehicle here to us. Just so you know, our schedule is booked up very heavily right now, so getting it in here before the end of this month may not be possible - but we *might* be able to fit you in during say, the week of the 20th thru the 24th - which is the week before FFW Richmond - we have decided to skip the Richmond FFW event due to the tremendous back load of custom tunes & vehicles we need to modify at this time of year, so sometime during that week might work well - and I'd say to plan on being here at least a couple of days, too. We might get it found in a single day, but then it might take 2 days - and another day to get parts overnighted in if necessary, etc. Whatever it takes, we'll get it done.

Otherwise, we'll be looking at sometime during the end of the first week of July.

"Dyno tuning" is not something I am particularly enamored of, as all that does is allow you to run it up to top speed with the vehicle sitting still - and usually with far less load on it than what the actual load the vehicle is under when being driven on the street or at the track - so we do complete mobile datalogging to see just what's going on, using full data acquisition to capture exactly what's going on when it lays down in 2nd gear under full-throttle, & whatever else may be going on there

So don't worry, we *can* get this taken care of for you, we just need to find a time for you to come here for us to get this taken care of for you - and it's a god idea for us to call and have a phone conversation before you come in, just to go over the exact configuration of the vehicle, so we can be prepared for what we feel will be trouble areas in advance, etc.

So bottom line - let's talk. Surely you can find a time somewhere between say, noon and 6 pm Eastern Monday thru Friday, which is the best time to reach me personally. Call us collect if you have to, OK, & tell the operator it's "Rich from F-150 Online with the Lightning problems," and we'll accept that collect call from you.

We'll find a way, my friend!

Hey Rich sorry to hear your having problems with that white beast.
Listen, you know that I talked you into going to Mike in the beginning, and I can assure that he WILL striaghten out ANY issues you are having. You have a lot of $$$ tied up in that truck so please call him and make the appointment to go down and let him straighten it out. Once you see the time and energy he will spend with you and your truck you will realize that I was right. Hell, if you want call me and I will go with you if need be....
"can I drive?"

Hi Marc,

Another excellent example of what happens when they don't come to us in the beginning when they were told to - they usually end up having to come to us later anyway, to fix the problems (and that's not a "knock" on anyone).

If they had come to us in the beginning, we could usually have saved them a lot of time, money & aggravation.

He's darned lucky he's got you as a friend to give him good advice, especially given your expertise & well-known background in drag racing Lightings, Cobra's, F-150's, etc. Whether he follows it or not at this late date is up to him, of course.

PS - I saw the shots of those 50-75' twin streaks of rubber you left in that 3-ton 2004 SuperCrew with our new tuning - thought you were going to post them here somewhere? I never learned how to do that here myself, so I've never done it - do you know how to do that?

Thanks for the replys, I will do my best to get a call in to your shop this week. Hopefully you can fix, whatever is wrong with the truck. In my opinion, with the mods I have, this truck should be in the 11's all day long. But I have yet to see any without nitrous. My trap speed is horrid, and the shifts are slow and before redline. In 1st it smokes the street tires to nothing, then it shifts and only slowly pulls into 3rd. Anyway I will try my best to get hold of you. And Marc, when I go down there, your welcome to come if you like. I could always use your help with my truck. Did you ever sell the cobra? What are you currently driving now? We need another norwalk race day. Thanks again,

Rich
