Save the list of questions you posted here and call Mike Troyer @ Troyer Performance tomorrow morning after 9:00 AM Eastern time and ask him the same questions. He will more than likely fix you up with either an X-Calibrator, or the new X-Calibrator2.

First, just so you'll know - all of your questions are easily answered by simply reading the plentiful info already posted here in these threads - use the SEARCH feature and you can easily pull up posts with all that info and more! (Just FYI

What will get you the best results on that 2005 5.4 3V F-150 is to have us do our custom tuning on that new F-150, and I recommend the XCalibrator 2, thanks to it's datalogging capability - that is important if you actually do modifications in the future that would affect the tuning (like a supercharger, etc.). Things like a properly designed intake kit (and there are only 2 for your truck that are acceptable, either the Airaid or the Air Force One, and we carry both),a cat-back exhaust, underdrive pulleys, electric fans, headers, etc. are not going to affect the tuning enough to require any changes. If you do big mods, like a blower, etc., then your tuning can always be changed/updated.
No, you will not lose MPG unless you DRIVE the vehicle harder after getting our custom tuning - and many people do that for a least a little while, once they feel how the vehicle's performance has improved.
the bottom lien is, our custom tuning for these trucks is the single best bang-for-the-buck mod you can make, as nothing else for the same or less cost will make as much improvement in the performance & overall response of the powertrain in that vehicle - there are plenty of posts here from our customers you can read to see what they have to say about the results.
