Xcalibrator . . . WOW!
Xcalibrator . . . WOW!
Got my Xcalibrator last night. Put in the 87 Octane Performance tune (of course I had just filled up the tank the day before). All I can say, like everyone else, is WOW. After the install, which took 12 minutes, I took my truck for a test drive. Gave it some gas and heard my rear 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers cryin'. I'll have to be more carefull, as they are too expensive to wear out every time I take off from a stop. And, like everyone else has said, it's like I have a new truck. I can't wait to empty the tank and fill with 93 Octane. I might have to take the long scenic route home tonight.
Hi dkm2,
Thanks for your post - glad to hear you're happy with our 87 octane tuning!
It's amazing when you can take a 3-ton+ SuperCrew Lariat 4x4 that's been lifted & has 35" tires and light 'em up.
Our 87 octane tune generally adds about 25 HP at the rear wheels on those models - and the 93 octane performance tune will add another 15 HP or so over that. Every bit as important as the raw power gains are the improvements to overall driveability - the powertrain response times are much quicker overall, and the improved throttle response & transmission shifting, etc., all add up to it feeling like a new truck.
Once the novelty of the new performance levels settles down a bit, you should be able to get a little bit better fuel mileage as well, most people usually do see some improvement there - once they stop driving it harder checking out the new performance levels, that is.
Thanks for your post & have fun!

Man, all this reading about everyones review about the Xcal and Troyer's tuning has me itching to get mine!! LOL Hopefully by next week it will be here. I understand Mike is one of if not the best tuner out there for the F150s and Anita mentioned to me that there is a little bit of a backlog right now. Guess I better start running 93 at next fill up so when it gets here I am ready!!
Good idea. I assumed they would email me a shipping/tracking number like they did with my MF SIDO. I filled my tank and the next day the xcal showed up at my front door. Kinda surprised me as I wasn't expecting it for another week. It did give me a chance to try out the 87 program though, which I may never have done. My wife's xcal also came, but due to shipping problems with daystar her lift and new tires haven't been installed yet. All the programs were done for the bigger tires so she has to wait until next week to tune her Expy. At least she can fill the tank with 93 in preparation.
I have to say I'm a little jealous guys. I'll get one as soon as I can aford it. Hell, do the finance?

Hi dkm2,
Oh, that's right - you got a pair of XCalibrators, one for your F-150 and the other for I guess it's you wife's Expedition, I think it was (I can't remember)?
Usually we DO email the shipment tracking number - the UPS software lets us do that if we have the customer's email address (unless it's a rare drop-shipment), so we try to make sure everyone for whom we have an email address gets those tracking numbers - but everyone once in a while we might miss one - sorry if we missed one for you!
Good luck with the wife's wheels & tires, etc.!

Sure, we "finance" - any credit card, AMEX, Disc, VISA & MC
Actually, at one time we looked into a commercial finance plan, but it requires all the same credit status that one needs to get a credit card anyway - so now we're looking into a Troyer Performance VISA or MasterCard-branded credit card - who knows if that will actually happen, it's just one of many things we have on our "to-do" list - along with getting our supercharger kits for the 5.4 3V trucks up on our webs site & everything else..................

Mike, not a problem. It was a quite pleasant surprise to get the Xcals out of the blue. Like I said, there were actually TWO collateral benefits:
1. I got to try out the 87 tune, which I might never have done
2. I have an excuse to drive a bit more, and get on it, and take the long scenic routes everywhere so I can empty the tank and fill with 93.
(then I'll have to repeat benefit two with the 93 program installed).

2002screwowner,
You dont have to run 93 octane with the xcal all the time. Mike can set up the tunes to run whatever octane you want to run, its just that you will see the greatest improvement with the 93 octane program he can work up for you. He did the tuning on my 03 Lightning and all I can say is that it feels like a totally different truck since. I recommend the xcal to anybody. Have a good one.

Hi 2002screwoner,
Just as Mickey said in his response (Hi Mickey!), we provide a set of 3 *different* custom tunes, and we can set those 3 different tunes up for any octane level you want - so no problem there.
Now in the pre-2004 F-150's especially, yes, we do see quite a bit more power gain on premium gas than with regular (87) - that's just the way it is. But even on our 87 octane tunes, the truck will gain power and feel much better overall.
So we usually set people up with a premium gas max performance tune, then a towing tune for either 87 or premium, and then say, an 87 octane performance tune - now that's just one possible combination, mind you - the point being, we'll set those 3 tunes up for you in whatever configuration makes the most sense for your mods, how you operate your vehicle, etc., & we go over all of that with you in detail when you place your order.
Feel free to give us a call at our number listed below & our staff can go over all of this with you.
