worthwhile 4.2 upgrades
next on the list is the hurst shifter and e-fan setup. I was going to get the af-1 but it doesn't have a heat shield so the one i have now should be just as good. (mac with a heatshield)
i just ordered it and it should be out the door today. woohoooo
done spending money for awhile.

we worked with Hurst for a long time to make that shifter happen, and anyone with a manual-tranny F-150 will absolutely *love* it's feel - makes the truck feel like a sports car, a lot more fun to drive - though it doesn't actually add any power, of course.

With this shifter, Is the shift **** lowered any? and if so, Is it still comfortable to drive? Only reason I ask is because I spend at least 2-3 hours a day driving(weaving) thought traffic.

05 F150 4.2l V6
Which of these upgrades are available for the v6 in the 2005 F150? It seems like I have looked everywhere on the web and I just haven't run across alot of performance upgrades for my truck.
Thanks
Thanks
Hi F-150 Sleeper,
It's not a matter of making the shifter a lot lower - it's a matter of completely redesigning it to shorten the length of the throws between gears, so that it's much easier and quicker to shift, and gives a far more enjoyable feel.
It is still very easy to reach, the ergonomics are not compromised in that regard, they are *enhanced*.
The only way to really know how it feels in the vehicle is to install it - or drive someone else's vehicle who has it installed. Trust me, it's a beautiful shifter that does a fine job, as you can see from the others posting here who have it - they rave about it, ands feel it's one the best things they've ever done for the vehicle.
Feel free to give us a call for details on it!

Hi jalamp,
You're right, there are very few mods available for the 2005 F-150 with the 4.2 V6, as it's a new offering, and there are extremely few of them made - so most manufacturers are not yet getting involved in making performance parts for them, as there is not anywhere near enough return on the R&D investment, as there are simply very few of those trucks in existence at this point in time.
Right now we can offer great performance tuning for them as well as our electric fan conversion kits, and between those 2 mods you're looking at an easy 30 Hp gain at the rear wheels.
And in time, as the 4.2 V6 is around longer in the new body style trucks and more of them are made, there will be intake kits, exhaust systems, and other modifications for them. It's just that it's very early in the game for that application, as it's so new and so few exist.
Feel free to give us a call to go over what we cna do right now for your vehicle to help it's performance, our number is listed just below.
Good luck with your truck!
