superchips 1715
superchips 1715
Hey i just purchased superchips 1715. )I know the XCal is better but couldnt spend the extra cash. ) My question is: I know that I read somewhere about having to change one of the settings up 2 hash marks. Can someone direct me to the site or help me out. I appreciate it.
i think for mine i moved the shift points up two marks, i can't remember exactly but i'm almost pretty sure...
i dont wanna be wrong and tell you something false, so wait till others respond too, but thats what i'm thinkin!
good luck!
John

Any information anyone could want about any aspect of the 1715 has been discussed here hundreds, if not literally thousands of times - just a reminder!
Briefly..............
You don't need to worry about the shift points - that is already done in the default upload in the 1715, you're not going to "improve" on that in your vehicle. The ONLY change that should be made manually with the 1715 is to bump the 2-3 shift point up exactly 2 notches - that helps it get back up into 4th gear (Overdrive) quicker after a 4-3 downshift, even though it's an adjustment to the 2-3 upshift point.
Last - as you may remember from our discussions here, going with our custom tuning is going to get a better performance result than the 1715 - it will cost a little bit more, but that small additional cost is nothing for anyone that can afford one of these vehicles, or compared to the additional power & performance benefits.
PS - For "Quagmeyer" - thanks for your post, and just FYI, we recommend NEVER setting the shift firmness levels at MAX on the 1715 - long-term that overworks the front pump and can accelerate wear on the pump. You're trying to drain a swimming pool thru a straw like that, is one way to put it. Anyone that wants hard shifts needs to do it the right way so as not to shorten the service life of transmission components - which is a combination of mechanical mod to the tranny (either the Transgo shift kit or the FTVB) and the PCM program changes. Shift firmness levels should not be set more than 2-3 notches above the default upload from the 1715 - just FYI.

Hi chrisrud15,
What jpdadeo (John) was kind enough to use the SEARCH feature to go back and search thru to retrieve & post is exactly correct - that is one of my older posts where we used to talk about exactly the issue you are asking about. By the way - you should always use he SEARCH feature first any time you want info, as virtually anything you can think to ask has already been asked & answered here hundreds of times before in most cases - just FYI.
Take the "Superchips" settings for the shift points, with ONE exception - bump the 2-3 shift point up 2 "notches" (2 hash marks) above the center line, and that will help it to get back up into Overdrive quicker after a "load event" - where it's had to downshift out of Overdrive (4th gear) back down into 3rd gear (or evne 2nd gear). When you crest the grade and the load drops back down, with the 1715 it can sometimes take as long as 15-30 seconds for it to upshift from 3rd back up into Overdrive (4th gear), it just depends on how steep the grade was and how long the "load event" (so to speak) was that really determines that. So bumping the 2-3 up 2 notches above the centerline helps it to get back up into Overdrive much quicker after it's had to downshift due to load.
Enjoy!
PS - Many thanks to jpdadeo for digging that info up!

what about the 3-4 shift points..leave as "superchip" or 2 notches to the right?
if im correct: 1-2=superchip, 2-3=2 notches, 3-4=superchip
please correct me if I'm wrong. I left everything to performance with 93 octane with default and it seems like It wasnt enough powered compared to the 87 octane default settings. I just dont want to damage or wear out anything in my engine.
What about the Pressure points? 2 notches to the right also?
And the speed limiter? "stock or the other one"?
I just bought mine and the directions didnt explain what they do?
