Reliability after the Mike Troyer tune

I was just wondering how the long term affects are on the reliability of the truck after the tunes? I am ready to try the tuner and just want to hear what everyone is saying about the longevity of the vehicle. Mike if you could also comment that would be great! (I do tow 6,000#'s also) Thanks Guys

Why not create 2 tunes using an X-Cal? One for towing and one for normal street driving. A Mustang Dyno can simulate the load.

If anything you should see the life of the vehicle extend. It makes everything run smoother and more effecient, especially the transmission. You don't get the bands slipping and creating heat.

All you need to do is spend time reading here & use the SEARCH feature - there are literally thousands of posts already here where we have discussed all of this before, many many times.

No, of course the long-term durability of the vehicle is not compromised with our tuning- if it were, you're have seen those posts all over these boards and we'd been out of business long ago - instead of being America's foremost F-150 tuner.

How long your vehicle lasts is up to how you operate & maintain it - along with how well Ford built that particular vehicle - that is not something we change.

I would agree that with the expertise Mike has in tuning that his tune would not hurt the reliability of the vehicle.

As Mike stated and I agree the reliability of the vehicle is really focused around the maintenance of the vehicle, how well you maintain it (not just in maintenance but how you drive/treat it), how often and what quality of products you use for maintenance has a great deal to contribute to the reliability of your vehicle.

Perform regular maintenance on a regular basis and use quality parts and you should get many, many miles and years out of your vehicle…

Hi Thumper,

All the kidding in this thread aside, I hope you were able to get some of the info you really were wondering about. You can also check out this topic via the SEARCH feature, too. We've been here for the past 8 years, so there's plenty of track record just here on F-150 Online alone.

For EVO - (Peter) - Neal is indeed about the ONLY person that can get away with calling me that! Neal and I have developed a close friendship over the years we've been privileged to work with him on his truck. I think it started out years ago as kind of a takeoff on that guy who used to call himself "Marky-Mark" - you know, that guy who was a rapper (I forget who he was with, the Back Street Boys or something else just as silly) who has now turned out to be a decent actor (he had the starring role in "The Italian Job," for example), as Neal used to call me "Mikey-Mike" - and sometimes still does. That is, when he's not calling me names I can't repeat here.

I did get the info I wanted, I put in an order with your company a few days ago, I am waiting patiently for my tuner. Anita and Crystal were also very helpful.
Thanks

This is the First Time Mike was wrong....

After a Troyer tune, there is a strong chance that your truck will wear out faster.

However, it has nothing to do with the affects of the tune. It has everything to do with how much more fun the truck is to drive....

Bottom line, you "want" to drive it all of the time and you put many more miles on your truck...

Sorry, I could not resist.....

Hi SRanger,

Good one!

(And in reality, I'm "wrong" plenty of times!)

It is true that when the vehicle is a lot more fun to drive, you tend to want to put more miles on it - one of the standing jokes around here has always been something along the lines of the man of the house now being much more willing to go pick up whatever is needed at the store (you know, the "honey, I need some garlic, milk, etc." just before dinner after a long hard day at work & you don't even want to think about going back out - then after a nice tune or a couple good mods, you're much more willing to find any excuse to put more miles on it, etc.
