hypertech

The hypertech one asks you yes or no questions untill you get the the part about transmission shift points and the rev limiter...I understand everything else except for this...It says rev limit from stock to +500 or stock to -400 and then the shift points say 1-2 stock to +500 2-3 stock to +500 3-4 stock to +500 But also says if you raise the rev limiter you have to raise the shift points....

I had the hypertech reprogrammer on my 99 F-150 and didn't like it. They say to increase your shift points and rev limit the same, but don't know what will happen if you don't. I ended up sending my hypertech back and talking to Mike Troyer and by talking to him I know that his reprogrammer will be a lot better and you can customize it a lot more. If you check some of the threads here on what he does, you might think about doing the same. As for price, Troyers is about $100 more, but well worth it. See troyerperformance.com if you have any more questions. Hope this helps.

Ditch it...

Hi.

I agree with jhoparmy ...

There is no reason for *any* programmer to provide such a cryptic or crude user interface. That's just poor design. These things are supposed to be end-user friendly. Even my old single program #1715 was much clearer, may it rest in peace ;-)).

BTW - did you try contacting HyperTech customer support for assistance? If so, did you receive any?

Ditch the Hyper-diaper and contact TP. Superior tuning and customer service is just a phone call away!

Cheers

Hi Lingenfelter,

You need to call the manufacturer to get your Tech Support.

By the way - they are talking about engine rpms in those +/- numbers.

And no, it's NOT a good idea to just crank everything up as high as it will go - you need to know much more about the vehicle and where it actually makes it's peak power, what rpm shift points will actually produce the quickest acceleration, what the weak links in the powertrain are so you will know something about what the vehicle can and cannot take and still live a full normal service life, etc.

Spending time here *reading* posts is a good way to learn some of that - but making post after post here in thread after thread about the same thing will not get you Tech Support. You should be calling whoever you bought it from, as *they* are responsible for your Tech Support, and should be expert in all of that - and if they aren't, then just call the manufacturer at the phone number in your documentation, so you can get the help you need.

Remember that the appropriate way to get Tech Support for any performance product you purchase from any vendor is via telephone or in person, generally speaking - so I'd suggest that you look for Hypertech's phone number in your documentation and **call them** for all your questions - they'll be happy to help you!

Good luck!
