Thanks Mike!!!!

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the info you gave

today

about changing from a 4# pulley to a 6# pulley ,just for racing,

for my 2002 Lightning. Your vast knowledge with these trucks and

other vehicles is truly mind boggling and very much appreciated.

You don't just sell your products but you're honest enough to let

someone know that if a part is not the right one or not necessary,

you let them know. I've only come across a few vendors like that.

Most would just sell the part without worrying about your

combination, just to make a buck.

Hats off to Mike, Anita, Crystal and everyone else at Troyer

Performance. Mike, always an honor and thrill to be able to get

through and talk to you personally (about 30 min. today) and get

some good honest information on these AWESOME,

SUPERCHARGED trucks they call SVT LIGHTNINGS. Talk to you

later. Peace.

Hi Raleigh,

That's very kind of you to say, thanks - & glad we could help!

I too, love these awesome Lightnings - I *hate* that Ford canceled them. You know, though we have owned a few Mustangs, I have always preferred to spend whatever it takes to drop my Lightning down into the low 11's - which it's capable of on the stock engine, stock cylinder heads, stock camshafts, & with the factory Eaton supercharger - though by using all our other bolt-on parts and a modified port to the blower, etc - if you know what you're doing. Heck, we can make any healthy Lightning run 11.40's on the stock motor, un-ported blower with bolt-on parts - but going 11.20's takes a ported blower & a few other tricks.

So I never bought an '03-'04 Cobra, even with it's "built" motor from the factory - I always thought of it as another Mustang, and there are plenty of those on the roads - far more than there are Lightnings.

But then just night before last, I sat down and pricing out what it was gong to cost me to get my Lightning into the 9's at a 4400 lb. weight - and promptly went out and bought an '04 Cobra!

So now we'll have our "regular" (but supercharged) 5.4 3V 2004 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4, then a non-supercharged F-150, then the low-11-second Lightning, and now the Cobra, too - which I can easily put into the 10's. And for much less than what it would cost me to go mid-10's in the Lightning, I can get into the high 9's with the Cobra, though I really don't want to get rid of the IRS, as I want it to handle like it's on rails, too - which the factory IRS accomplishes pretty well.

I thought about trading the Lightning in on a Cobra --- but nah, I'd miss scenes like last Sunday, when my wife & I took the Lightning out for a cruise and ran across a Z06 Corvette owner driving 10 mph below the speed limit. So when a passing zone came up on this 2-lane mountainous winding country road, I passed him and I guess he got an earful of the L's exhaust - and he promptly took off after us. I let him catch up, and as soon as he got behind me, we promptly blew his doors off - 3 times - doing 50-130 mph blasts, during which he just kept falling further & further back. He couldn't even stop losing ground at 130 mph as the aerodynamics really started putting the Lightning at a disadvantage compared to the sleek Corvette - he was soooo disgusted (I guess) that after the last time I let off and dropped back down to 40 mph to let him catch up - he didn't bother. He just kept falling further and further back after he gave up.

It really wasn't even close - so being able to humiliate a 400+ HP 3200 lb. Corvette on a stock-motor'd Lightning is worth the price of admission, so once again - we're keeping it, and just adding the Cobra to the stable.

Have fun,

Hi Mike,

Congrats on the new Cobra! Isn't it nice to be self employed and be able to write your toys off as tax write off? I love it!

I'm glad you kept the Lightning. An 11 sec. stock block L is pretty impressive. I was even thinking about a MP blower for mine, in keeping with the stock block scenario, but that's later down the road.

I have a 70 Chevelle that I've had since high school I'm getting ready to restore. It's been on the back burners for awhile. I think it's time to start on a new project. Talk to you later. Be safe.

Oh by the way, nice one about the Z06!!!!

Hi RL,

>>>Congrats on the new Cobra! Isn't it nice to be self employed and be able to write your toys off as tax write off? I love it!<<<

You know it - if it weren't for our performance company *and* the pricing we get on our FoMoCo vehicles, we'd never be able to afford the vehicles we go thru here. Now the *real* tax break comes with the trucks that hit a slightly heavier weight - I forget what the tax rules is on that, but at a certain weight the tax break becomes much more significant on company-owned vehicles.

>>>I'm glad you kept the Lightning. An 11 sec. stock block L is pretty impressive. I was even thinking about a MP blower for mine, in keeping with the stock block scenario, but that's later down the road.<<<

Actually, it's a pretty straightforward configuration for us to put Lightnings with stock (internally) engines, cylinder heads & cams, AND using the Eaton supercharger into the 11's in cooler weather (say, not above about 70-75 degrees & decent humidity, at sea level and a hooking track) - we've done that for a good number of our Lightning customers over the last 4 years or so. But now to make it go mid or low 11's in say, 95 degree summer heat with virtually any track conditions is quite another story altogether, of course. If the owner has the money to spend, we can put them in the 11's on the stock motor in decent conditions. Heck, if we put that same motor in a Fox-body Mustang that is properly prepped, it will go 10's - MM&FF is proving that out with that old beater-white Fox-body Mustang that they dropped a Lightning motor into (along with a lot of other mods). It's definitely do-able.

>>>Oh by the way, nice one about the Z06!!!!<<<

Well, in all candor it really wasn't fair to him, as it was probably a *stock* Z06, I'm guessing - but it was still a nice kill for a big 'ole truck & probably surprised him.

Good luck with your Chevelle project, by the way!

I noticed in the above mentioned reply that you have a supercharger on your 2004 f-150 with the 5.4. I was wondering what type of supercharger it was, and if it would fit on a 2004 f-250 with the 5.4?

I assume it will fit sense it is the same motor, but I was wanting your thoughts on it.

Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I dont blame you, I talked to a guy at WFC8 last weekend back in StL that ran an 8.6 1320 in a Lightning and the $$ numbers he spent on it were crazy. But damn did that thing haul!!

Hi TNSmitty,

Sorry to be slow in getting back to you - we use only the Roush kits, as they are the only supercharger that really has everything covered properly on the 5.4 3V F-150's for 22004 & 2005. Adds a whopping 140 HP & 175 lbs./ft. of torque SAE Net, and will certainly wake up your truck. Also includes the custom tuning required to make these ETC vehicles actually run correctly with a blower (something nobody else has really achieved well), and even a 36/36 powertrain warranty, too! So we have a lot of brand new vehicle owners who have us ship their supercharger kit right to their local Ford dealership for installation, and end up with a wicked-fast truck that still has complete warranty coverage - it's a very nice package.

Just give us a call at our number listed below to go over all the details on that, we'll be happy to cover this with you.

Hi ZelenVR,

Our '01 Lightning runs low 11's & has for the past couple of years, as long as it doesn't get above about 75 degrees & the humidity isn't oppressive - on the stock engine with our performance package & custom tuning. It' not too hard to get them to run in the 11's with proper suspension setup & the right parts on the stock motor, stock heads & cams and even with the Eaton blower - we've got dozens of owners doing it.

Now to get them well into the 10's in just about any kind of weather is another matter, of course - that takes a well-built motor, and more work (read: $$$).

It's all do-able, it's just a matter of what you're willing to spend.
