i need help with chips?
i need help with chips?
i am new to this performance thing but i recently ordered a volant intake and a magnaflow si/do for my 2004 f150. i was told that a chip would tie everything together nicely. what does a chip do and will it be noticibly different. can i screw up my computer system? also what kind of chip should i purchace? all the feed back possible would make me feel a lot more comfortable. ebay ranges from $25-400.
First - forget eBay. This is *not* an area to shop pricing on, that's an excellent way to get a poor excuse for a "tune." These are very expensive & complex computer-controlled vehicles, and to get the best **safe & sustainable** performance gains, work with a tuner who specializes in these trucks - we've been doing that longer than anyone else.
What I suggest is to to spend some time reading the posts in this section, as all the info you could possibly want is already here - all you need to do is simply spend the time to read it. Also, make use of the excellent SEARCH feature here,m which allows you to retrieve & read posts on any topic.
If you want the *best* results, contact us at our number listed below for our custom tuning - even for a bone-stock vehicle, that is what will get you the best actual results with tuning that is safe for long-term use in these expensive new vehicles - I say that simply because in this business, everybody and their brother claims to be a "tuner" but very few actually have those abilities *AND* the platform-specific knowledge of these trucks. The F-150 is the hardest vehicle to tune consistently I know of, thanks in no small part to the fact that they have far more different PCM revisions & strategies every model year than any other vehicle - thus it requires far higher R&D levels, etc., so you want someone who specializes in these trucks - we've been doing that for 13 years.
Please do take some time to read the posts from other vehicle owners like yourself who have spent their hard-earned money on our tuning, and have made many posts with their reviews, results, etc. here - there are literally thousands of those posts here, and you'll enjoy reading them.
