chip for the old
Hi 93,
Yes, we still do custom tuning for many of those older vehicles - as long as it's either a mass air setup, or a speed density truck without "significant" modifications (like a radical camshaft, just for example).
The first thing to do is to give us a quick call at our number listed below as we'll need to know the exact computer code (PCM revision) of your particular truck - we'll need to go over how to find the code with you by phone, as those older trucks many times don't have PCM code stickers in the door frames.
You can try taking a quick look for a code sticker by opening the driver's door, and then look in the front area of the door frame, in the general area of the door hinges - if you see a small sticker there with a 3 or 4 digit code (like TDE1, or say, 8LA, etc.), you may have gotten lucky and just happen to have a vehicle with a code sticker still where it was supposed to be from the factory. Most vehicles have 4-digit codes, 3 letters followed by 1 number - but every once in a while, if the truck is old enough, we'll occasionally see a 3-digit computer code.
Another place to look if you don't see anything in the driver's side door frame is to remove the kick panel (driver's side) and then look up in there on the back of the PCM (looks like a rectangular aluminum box, about 1.5" wide by 6" tall) for a code sticker on the back of it (again, 3 to 4 digits on those older trucks).
If you don't find the sticker with the info in either of the 2 places I've just described, then just give us a call & we can go over this with you in more detail on how to find a code sticker in some other places - and then once we know the code, we can confirm whether or not we can tune your 1993 5.0 F-150 for sure.
Thanks for your post, & nice to see someone else keeping the "older" trucks alive!
