aftermarket tach

a few years ago i dropped a tach into my 00' f150. (since it didn't come with one)

I tapped the signal from the ecm. I believe it was pin 42 on the ecm. can anyone confirm this?

I just put a aftermarket tach in my 2000 as well. The pin that you are looking for is # 34, it is one of the corners. (red with a light green stripe) I have a picture of the connector face/pinout chart that shows which one it is, I could Fax it to you if you have access to a Fax.
I am curious to know if you ever had the tach working properly?? I had to purchase a special adaptor for mine because of my "coil on plug" ignition system.
Hope this helps, Dennis

yep the tach worked fine. i pulled off the connector and i could see where the wire should have gone but that pin wasn't used. i dremeled out the pin hole with a small drill bit so i could pass a wire through it so it wouldmake contact with the computer ob the other side. it worked like a champ.
