Want More Power
Want More Power
Good afternoon, I recently purchased a 2004 F150 XLT 5.4 engine. I would like to know if anybody has any ideas for gaining more horse power. I have added the MagnaFlow exhaust and the K&N Air filter.

Information
All the information you want is right here on the board. Do a search to find the exact item your looking for.
Your magnaflow exhaust is good but toss the K& N. Get yourself and Airaid from Troyer Performance along with an Xcalibrator tuned by Mike Troyer. You will be very happy!

Other considerations
There is a lot to consider with the newer 2004/05 F-150's than just bolting on a blower. Especially one you just happen to pick up on e-bay.... there is only one I know of right now that is on the market and its over $4k. Most manufactures are not ready for prime time for these trucks yet. But they are getting there.
Hi F150XLT,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
To get back to answering the actual question that was asked by F150XLT," there are *many* ways to increase power in your new truck - the single best place to start is by having us to a thorough custom tune for it, as we can give it the throttle response & performance it is now so badly lacking in, get the transmission shifting as it should, and do so without compromising the durability of the engine & transmission.
From there you can do many other types of additional mods, from mild to wild - there is literally no limit to how fast we can make your new truck - the only limits are your desire and available budget. We've specialized in improving the performance of these trucks longer than anyone else, so we know quite well what really does work and what doesn't, what to steer clear of, etc.
To respond to the idea of just going out and buying a used supercharger - no, you CANNOT just buy a used blower and throw it on a 2004 or newer 5.4 3-valve F-150 - absolutely dead wrong. You have to be FAR more careful on the new F-150's than you do on the 2003 & earlier trucks (including 2004 Heritage models with the 5.4 2-valve motors), it's a whole new ball game, a completely different fuel delivery system, completely different controls, CAN, and on and on.
Now on the subject of supercharging the new trucks, we have for months now already been shipping a COMPLETE AND PROPER positive displacement supercharger kit that includes the very thorough custom tuning that is absolutely required to use ANY supercharger on the new F-150's. We're among the first in America to do that (aside from a couple of magazine prototypes which still aren't actually shipping, as almost nobody can tune them). We've already had to replace some so-called blower kits for owners of these new trucks to dump some real garbage that has shipped to them - you have to be *very* careful in supercharging these new trucks, you can't do it like you can in the pre-2004 new body style trucks.
F150XLT, if you'd like to go over how to best improve the performance of your vehicle, costs, results, etc., so you've got some factual information to give thought to, please just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to help.
Best of luck with your truck whatever you decide, & thanks for dropping by!
