I am looking at buying a programmer for a 2004 f150 with the 5.4 engine. The problem is is that I need a tuner that has the capability of downloading custom tuning because I want to be able to shoot a 125-150 hp shot of nitrous. If any one could give some suggestions I would appreciate it.
My suggestion would be to contact Mike Troyer. He will also be able to recommend what to do to safely squirt the engine so you don't blow it up.

Hi bgdaddyn,
We can take care of that for you, and the tuner has email update capabilities and more, no problem.
However - if that truck is the new body style F-150 with the 5.4 3-valve engine, we do not like the idea of spraying quite that much nitrous on that motor. The spark plugs are not appropriate for that, the plugs in the 5.4 3V engines (and in the 4.6 3V engines in the new Mustang) are a special plug made by Autolite with a special elongated tip design, so they cannot be easily replaced with an aftermarket colder plug that is copper-based - like you do any time you spray nitrous, and as can be done in the 4.6 & 5.4 2-valve motors in the 2003 & earlier F-150's (and the 2004 "Heritage" old body style 5.4 2-valve motor), for example.
We suggest reducing the shot of nitrous to not more than 75 HP on the 5.4 3-valve motors for now - at least until we have more spark plug options at some point in the future - and then *maybe* spray a 100 HP shot maximum, otherwise the pistons are not going to live. The stock cast hypereutectic pistons in these engines do NOT have much thickness, and with too much cylinder pressure/rapid rise in cylinder pressure are prone to folding over the top ring land & cracking. With proper configuration & tuning, they can support about 450 HP - but not by spraying 125-150 shot, that's just too much giggle juice for long-term durability on the stock pistons in these trucks - you'd need proper forged pistons for that level of nitrous.
Just give us a call at our number listed below & we can go over this with you in proper detail.
