Dude... 1st off cool graphics of the BS flag!

Maybe you need to tone it down, or relax a bit? It seems as if you have some sort of personal vendetta against davet... what's up with that?

Perhaps while he is calling SC you should call your doctor and get that prozac prescription refilled today!!!

I contacted the distributor I bought it from and explained the situation and he told me to send it back for a refund. When I tried to get the info in on how to do that the offer was taken back and I was never called back on how to even get the chip checked for a malfunction. I was told it didn't sound like it wasn't working properly but wasn't given help in getting it looked at. I will have to call SC directly instead of dealing with the distributor and handle it that way. I just haven't had time yet.
My posts haven't been meant as a rag to everyone that has a tuner just meant to give another side of the coin to a prospective buyer.

davet

Another option would be to call Troyer Performance and trade your SCT6600 for a micro tuner or an Xcalibrator. I’m pretty sure they do trade in's but have no idea how much you’d get; have to call for that info. No matter what you end up doing, I hope you get something that works because when they are working right they really rock. Sorry about the flame too

Troyer isn't an option and Mike told me there wasn't a tuner for my '97.

Hmm...

Hi.

My understanding was that either a #1715, #9100 or a #9300 would all be compatible with '96 - '03 F-150's.

cheers

Maybe it has to do with the computer code and not necassarily the year. Not sure.

Cleaned my battery cables after work today and for the heck of it ran through the initialization procedure (drain system of any residual electrical power) again to get the ECM to adjust to the chip like the instructions said. This was the 4th time I've done this since installing the chip trying to get it work. Just after installing the chip I contacted the distributor with some issues and was told to remove and replace the chip which I did at that time.
Today I switched the dial from the stock setting to "87-performance" and ran to get gas. The truck actually "seemed" a little zippier this time whereas in the past the truck was actually doggier on the 87 custom tune settings. I filled up with the same gas I've always used and have roughly 4,000-5,000 miles on the truck since the install. I would've thought the ECM would've adjusted on its own by now. Instructions say 350 miles or so if you don't go through the initialization process. I don't know if actually gave me an increase in power this time as it's too soon to tell. I'll try to clarify if it helped this time or not and let you know. I do not have a dyno and I'm going by seat of the pants however this time there seemed to be a slight increase in performance during the 5 miles I drove it. Can't explain it. My fingers are crossed.
