Xcalibrator

Is there any difference between this Xcalibrator thing and the Superchips programmer listed in most car/truck mags?

They look like this:

Just wondering.... I want to get mine from TroyerPerf simply because of the phone conversations I've had with them and the overwhelming approval rating they get from this site.

If you want the most hp & torque gain available from a tuner, you want the 9300. It will give you approximately 50% more hp & torque over the 1714. It is a custom in-depth tune created specifically for your trucks PCM code and tailored to your driving needs. I got one and it’s everything its cracked up to be and more.

My Xcalibrator tunes are

87-octane – Performance
93-octane – Tow-Preferred
93-octane – Max-Performance

So the one in the link is the 1714? If so, why didn't you just say so. That's the only thing I wanted to know. I called Troyer and they told me what they sell, I simply forgot to ask that question.

KC, if your driving an '05 you really want the Xcallibrator (aka 9300), not only that I'm not sure you really have a lot of choices.

Hi KC-10FE,

It's a matter of using the appropriate hardware that will work with the CAN (Controller Area Network) electrical system in your vehicle - and that's the Part# 9300.

The key here is that not only does the 9300 have the built-in CAN capability your truck requires, but when you order the 9300 from us you also get our in-depth Troyer Performance custom tuning - and that's what will get you the best safe and sustainable power & performance gains. Now in the 1996-2003 trucks, you could use either the 9100 (custom Micro Tuner) or the 9300 (custom Xcalibrator) for our custom tuning - but starting in 2004 with the new body style F-150's, you have to use the 9300 to get our custom tuning.

I hope that clears thing sup a bit for you, but if not, or if you'd just like to go over any of this don't hesitate to give us a call & we'll be happy to go over all the various details with you, answer any questions, etc.

Thanks Mike...

I was just curious since I saw add for a Superchips Micro Max (or something like that) in a magazine for only $300+S/H.

I spoke with Anita and another lady that works with you and I'm very impressed with your company and the customer service you provide.

Right now, I'm simply waiting to free up $500. Stupid mortgage and truck/car payments and insurance (in NJ no less!!!) and utility bills and taxes...

One last thing... I've been speaking to the local dealer about getting my computer reflashed, the truck just doesn't seem right to me. The service manager said that if they can in any way detect that a Tuner has been used, they will not cover ANY engine related warranty claim. I mentioned the Magnuson/Moss act and he said it doesn't matter because I CAN'T prove the Tuner didn't break whatever but he CAN the Tuner did change the engine parameters. Any thoughts on this. I would hate to spend $500 only to see my powertrain warranty go up in smoke. Mind you this is just this one dealer, but i'm sure they have big mouths and telephones...

It's generally a complete waste of time expecting any service manager at any dealership - Ford, Honda, or who-fung-do - to tell vehicle owners "sure, go right ahead and use any aftermarket device you like and your warranty will still be perfectly fine because we know all about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" - that simply isn't going to happen in most cases.

We've been over all of this countless thousands of times before - so rather than do all of that all over again every time this comes up, we refer you to make use of the SEARCH feature here to retrieve & read any of those tons of past posts on this exact same topic - and make *sure* you drop by the www.sema.org web site and read up on your rights.

Happy reading,
