Question Super Chip for a Manual Transmission?

I have read how these chips bump up overall performance, I see alot about shiffting better ect, since I have a 5spd 4.6 will the dollars be worth it?

Do these performance chips affect the lifespan of the truck.

First off, yes it's worth the money. Tuning can't do anything directly to the transmission to effect shifting but, believe me, it helps!

You might want to give the search feature a try. You will see the icon in the upper right portion of this screen. I know I replied recently to a post about this topic and I'm sure that I asked it a few years ago when I first found this site. This is a pretty common question and there is already a bunch of good information buried in the history of this site. It's worth checking.

With a manual transmission there is less drive line loss that with an automatic. If you think about it we actually get more than thoes with the auto. Your ability to work with this Mazda transmission is really the thing that determines your "shift charictoristics". One thing that might help to improve your ability to work with the Mazda transmission would be to install a Hurst short throw shifter.

Let me just finish by saying, it's worth it!

Yes the automatic trucks get the benifit of better shifting, but you will get the benifit of more performance over stock. Getting a chip for your truck is well worth the money.

Hi ksjs24,

As the other posters have already mentioned, it most certainly is very well worthwhile. Those are actually a couple of guys who both have manual transmissions in their F-150's - in fact, JMC actually has a manual-tranny 5.4 F-150, which Ford never made - he made it himself & we custom-tuned it! Anyway, they both have manual-tranny F-150's and have both used the Superchips on their trucks, so they know very well what they do on the manual-tranny F-150's.

Remember this - it doesn't matter whether you have a manual or an automatic, the engine still gains the same amount of power from our tuning- and as Tom mentioned in his response, in a manual you have less driveline losses compared to an automatic, so you actually get a *larger* power gain to the wheels in manuals compared to automatics from our tuning.

To answer your other question, no, a Superchip will NOT have any negative impact on the service life of your vehicle.

If you want to get the best possible results, go with our in-depth *custom* tuning - even for a bone-stock vehicle, our custom tuning will yield significantly larger raw power & performance gains over the "standard" Superchips tuning like in the 1715, or the "standard" Superchip module, for example. What most F-150 owners are doing these days is having us do our custom tuning in the 9300, which is the Xcalibrator - our hand-held tuner that connects to your vehicle's OBD-II port, and lets you upload your choice of any of 3 different custom tunes to your vehicle's PCM is just a few minutes with a simple plug-n-play connection. It also has an email update capability should you ever need tuning changes for future modifications, etc., so it's very convenient, quick & easy.

Feel free to give us a call to go over any of this in more detail, our number is listed below for your convenience.

Best of luck whatever you decide,
