1714 ?
1714 ?
I'm about to get a oil change at dealership. I will be changing back to stock setting before I bring it in. The question is I'm running 93 octane tune with 93 octane gas will it be a problem to switch to stock the dealer is only 2miles from house. Or should I burn the 93 gas out first then put some 87 in then bring to dealer? Thanks for the help
If all you are having done is an oil change who cares if you have a tuner installed....
they don't have some big brother tuner sensing device, the only why they could tell you had a tunner is if they hook up there scanner, and they don't do this for a mere oil change

The results otherwise is very expensive. You really trust any dealership. I can just see it some young mechanic just saying let me see what this does. Ok fried pcm.
Hi cajun04,
I feel the same way - if it's just for an oil change, I would not return it back to stock, as generally speaking for just an oil change they aren't going to be looking at anything else. Besides, you should be there while they are doing it since it's just an oil change - they should only have the vehicle for well under an hour, with you right there to see what's going on.
However, of course that is up to you.
Now with regard to running 93 octane on the stock factory tune - if this is a 2004 or newer 5.4 3V F-150, at lower rpms and light loads, the knock sensors can add a little bit of timing, probably enough so you won't get any particularly bad symptoms **as long as** you keep the rpms down (below 3000) and stay out of the throttle - not using more than maybe 1/3 throttle at most, and no long, steep grades.
If this were any F-150 that did NOT have the new 5.4 3V 300 HP engine (including even a 2005 4.6 model), then I'd say NEVER run premium gas on the stock factory tune, as in some trucks that can actually cause some real driveability problems, check engine lights, etc., just as the owners manual warns about. But in the new 5.4 3V motor F-150 (ONLY), a few miles on the stock program at light throttle & low rpms with premium gas should be OK.
Best of luck whatever you decide,
