F150 chip/pulleys in a Mustang?
F150 chip/pulleys in a Mustang?
I tried to email Mike (where I got the chip and pulleys), but no response yet. I know he's a busy guy, so I thought I'd ask here...
Does anyone know if the F150 (4.6L) underdrive pulleys will work on an '04 GT?
Also, I'm pretty sure my Superchip will work (if reburned) in my GT, but it's a 5-speed, and I'd rather stay with 87 octane, so is there really any performance gain to be had under those conditions???
In case you didn't see the thread in GD, I have traded my '03 truck for an '04 GT...

Hi Closer9,
Sorry I must have missed this post!
If it were a 1999-2003 Mustang, yes you could - but not on the 2004, I'm afraid, they take different pulleys according to the company we have manufacture our underdrive pulleys (I have not personally ever tried to install those same truck pulleys on the 2004 GT).
What I'd suggest is to offer your truck pulleys for sale here in the free F-150 Online Classified Ads section, as priced right they'll find a new home - and then use that to offset the cost of the pulleys you'll need for the 2004 Mustang GT.
I don't remember exactly which Superchip you have, if it's the older single-bank blue module, or if so if it's the newer "F" revision module, etc. - if it's an "F" revision module (it would say "SUPERCHIPS F" on the back on a white sticker), then we should be able to reprogram it for you.
However, for this too you might want to offer it for sale in the Classifieds, as you'll get a better result and more power if you have us to a custom tune in say, our multi-program 4-bank style newer custom chip or multi-program tuner (sorry, I don't mean to play salesman). For those who originally bought those older types of Superchips from us and want to sell them to offset the cost of getting into a more modern 4-bank chip & custom tuning, we will reprogram that chip for your buyer for only the cost of shipping with a standard Superchip performance program for their vehicle, if it works on that vehicle - and that helps to get them sold pretty easily - (we do that when the first chip was bought from us and the same customer is going to be buying another new modern chip from us, to help them get their original chip sold).
I hope that info helps. & good to see you again!

Thanks for the info, Mike...
I have found a buyer for the chip, pulleys and swaybars right here on F150online... BTW, I have/had the blue chip, and loved what it did for my auto tranny especially...
I would like to get a programmer rather than a chip for the Stang, but it will probably be down the line a ways. First thing after the stereo is finished will probably be a short throw shifter, then pulleys, intake, exhaust and then a programmer...
So far I'm loving this this thing. I just got my CD player installed. The Mach 460 is a PITA when going aftermarket, so I finally bypassed most of it...

Hi lifeguardjoe,
Good to "see" you again, it's been a while!
No, you don't need to talk with me, you can ask for Anita - I just mentioned this to her to let her know about the basics of what you guys are doing. She may not remember the screen names for you 2 guys (closer9 & lifeguardjoe) that I just went over with her because of how many calls she handles, but once she's contacted about this she'll know exactly what to do and will make sure everything gets done properly so you guys can get this taken care of, no problem!
This transaction can't be discussed in detail here, but just briefly so we're clear on this.....................the way it works is, if whoever you bought one of the blue Superchip modules from used is someone who originally bought that chip from us new, and that person is *also* now buying either another chip or tuner or a custom tune from us, then with verification of that we will reprogram that existing blue Superchip module with the standard Superchips performance program for the buyer's vehicle's computer code for just the cost of shipping. This is a benefit we offer to those who bought those blue Superchips modules directly from us when new - it's designed to help them get it sold when it's time for them to get another new chip or tuner that is compatible with their new vehicle (or to get into our custom tuning), to help them get the original chip sold to help offset some of that cost. Another important aspect is that in those cases (only), we also continue the basic warranty coverage against outright failure of that Superchip module to that second owner. Now it's important to note that we do *not* take on any Tech Support responsibility or anything else for the second owner, they do not become a "customer" of ours, etc - they haven't bought anything from us in doing this deal. We provide basic warranty coverage against outright failure of the module, so that way the perspective buyer can feel safe buying it used, which helps the original owner to get those blue Superchips modules sold when they need to upgrade to a chip or tuner to get something compatible with their new vehicle from us (or to get into a custom tune from us).
We'll need the person selling it to you to contact us with their name & address so we can verify this, and they also need to place an order with us for their new chip or tuner (or custom tune) - once we have all that info & their order for the new tuning product, and the info on the next vehicle that original chip needs to be programmed for, then we will reprogram that original chip for their buyer with the standard Superchips program for their vehicle's computer code, for just the cost of he way it works is, if whoever you bought one of the blue Superchip modules from used is someone who originally bought that chip from us new, and that person is *also* now buying either another chip or tuner or a custom tune from us, then with verification of that we will reprogram that existing blue Superchip module with the standard Superchips performance program for the buyer's vehicle's computer code for just the cost of shipping. I'm glad to finally be getting a chip and I can't wait to put her in!
On a side note, is there a link that you guys have for installing performance pulleys? Just curious.
