Will the superchips 1714 work with the 04 Heritage 4.2 or do I need something else?
If it won't wor what's a good one to get? I would like to get a programmer instead of a chip though.

If you intend to keep the truck a right good while I would get the 9100, pulls trouble shooting codes and such and really kicks butt. I have had mine about 8 months on my 2000 4.2L and its great, no regrets.

I think all Heritages are EEC-V but could be wrong. All Worthit has to do is give Mike a good old fashion call and get the straight facts and place an order. On my 2000 4.2L with the 93 oct. program it is like I had been dragging around 6 or 7 cinder blocks on rope behind the truck and somebody just cut it loose. Coworker has a 99 Dodge 318 standard cab with duals and I can pull him off a dead stop or rolling run and just flat leave him behind. I am very please being all of 256 cu ins and a supercab that will average 21 mpg if driven gentily in the sticks.

Hi worthit 99,
Actually, you CAN use the 1714 Micro Tuner on a 2004 Heritage ("old" body style) F-150, including those with the 4.2 V6 engine. So if you can pick up on a good deal from your friend, that might be worthwhile - I'd suggest seeing if he will let you try it first, if possible.
For those who want the absolute best possible power gains, performance & driveability, our *custom* tuning is the way to go - and for a 2004 Heritage F-150, you can use either our Part# SCT6600 4-program custom chip, our Part# 9100 custom Micro Tuner, or our Part# 9300 custom Xcalibrator. Here's a link to our web site that will show you all our tuning products - but you'll want to read up specifically on those 3 Part#'s I listed here, as those are the multi-program devices that we can supply our *custom* tuning in, which is what will get you the best actual results - here's the link: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo
Best of luck whatever you decide!

I went with the 1714 for now. He did let me try it and it works to my liking for now. I was planning to upgrade to a 'custom' tune from you once I get the mods where I want them. I ran into a problem like this with my stang and getting a reburn from a tuner after paying the dyno charges sucked. If there is a better way to do it let me know and I'm sure I'll swing that way.

, I missed the heritage part in that description
