its been covered before cause i read about it in my searches but.........i still dont get the difference between the 1715 and the 9100. Right now my truck is bone stock except for exhaust. Which one will let me tune it for when i get an intake better exhaust and other mods? I know the 9100 is better but why?

Here is the breakdown as far as I understand it.

1715
-comes from the manufacturer with three generic tunes (read the link posted above to see what tunes it comes with)
-you can manually change your shift points
-you can manually change your shift duration
-you can manually change your rev limiter
-you can manually recalibrate your speedometer
-can use it on more than one vehicle

9100
-First off, 9100 is capable of everything the 1715 is except YOU cannot manually change the programs. Troyer (or whomever you order from) will make the changes for you.
-Troyer performance will have you fill out a questionnaire about your vehicle and make three CUSTOM tunes for your vehicle. Custom to your computer code and VIN and the mods you have
-You get to choose what kind of tunes you want. 87 oct economy, 87 oct performance, 87 oct towing, 89 oct economy, 89 oct performance, 89 oct towing, 91 oct economy, 91 oct performance, 91 oct towing, 93 oct economy, 93 oct performance, 93 oct towing, and probably others that I don't even know about.
-Because this is built custom to your setup you will get more out of existing and future mods. If you add N20 or get a supercharger or turbo you will benefit more from this tuner.
-can only be used on one vehicle.
-even on a bone stock truck, Mike says you can get more HP with the 9100.

The cost difference between the two is fairly small. I decided to get the 9100. I am waiting for it right now and I can't wait. Not that I have been waiting long, only 3 days since I sent in my answers to their questions.

Wow, thats hard to decide. I wish there was a programmer that would let me adjust it myself for each mod that i do. I like the power of the 9100, but i dont want to have to have it reprogrammed every time i do a mod. That gets expensive. I do like how the 9100 has so many options, whereas the 1715 only has the three generic tunes. I dunno, Anyone have any suggestions?

Now i am even more indecisive. The SCT6600 says it will deliver even more power than any of the programmers. Wow, why cant there only be one product on the market. It would be so much easier.

The 1715 does not really give you that ability. In my post I mentioned what exactly you have control over in the 1715, but that is not where the real performance gain comes from. The things that you cannot adjust manually (fuel/air ratios, and other things that I don't even know about) are what will give you the best performance boost and let you get more out of your future mods.

I would say that if you are looking for best performance then go with the 9100.

If you think you want to be able to change your tranmission characteristics frequently then that is the only reason I can think of going with the 1715.

This is all very clearly explained on our web site - the 1715 has the *standard Superchips* tuning, whereas the 9100 has our *custom* tuning - and thus the 9100 loaded with our custom tuning delivers significantly higher power and performance gains - on the order of 50% more power & performance gain over the 1715, at a minimum, and in some cases even more.

It's the difference between standard tuning that is designed for stock trucks, versus our custom tuning that is much more in-depth and thorough for each individual vehicle, it's mods, how it's operated, the vehicle owners' preferences, etc.

We get much deeper into the program in our custom tunes, and that, combined with our expertise and experience, is why the F-150 owners that want the best go with our custom tuning, as it delivers significantly higher power and performance gains.

Not knowing the inside of Mike's business, I can only speak with regards to my experiance wit Mike Troyer. When you have a question or problem or when you add that next hot part Mike has a file and knows exactly what he has done to youre tune he knows the ins and outs of youre program both in stock and modifyed trim. This takes the guess work out of what the truck is doing.
Mike takes the time to make youre truck to it's potentail no matter what you modify, and he does NOT forget you after the sale. I recently contacted him with a slight cold weather issue, I might add nearly a year after the initial tune, and he made an adjustment and offered me a wealth of infotmation to solve my drivability issue.
This is the differance in the 9100 tuner and anything else on the market, be it superchips or another brand.
Special thanks as always, for all youre extra effort Mike. you're tunes and service are the best!!!!!!
Chuck
