SCT6600 question for Mike

Mike, sorry to post the question here but each time I've called you've been tied up with customers. I got my 6600 in the mail the other day and I was looking it over but haven't had time to install it yet. Is there a way I can install a larger, different dial so it looks like more of a finished product? I realize this dial is probably meant to be small and hidden but I would like to mount the dial where it's easy to read and use and a larger, more complete dial assembly would be nice. Thanks. Great instruction/information sheets included.

No, you cannot change that switch - it must be used just as designed, or you will not be able to change programs.

It's a very nice design, couldn't be simpler and is in fact a completely finished product. But I'm guessing that maybe, just maybe, you might not be getting just how it's switch is designed to be installed - based on your perception/comment of it not appearing to be a "finished product."

It's actually pretty simple once you know the deal - you just remove the rotary **** (the black ****), and drill a hole somewhere inside the glove compartment, just large enough to allow the switch's shaft to pass thru. (Or you can mount it underneath the glove box, along the bottom leading edge of the dash there is a metal "lip" there, underneath & in front of, running to the left and right of, the glove compartment, etc.)

Then mount the switch assembly behind whatever you drilled a hole in for the switch's shaft to go thru as you mount the switch - the glove compartment is where it's meant to be installed - then simply slip the **** right back on and voilą, it's done, and looks properly "finished."

It's completely modular & quick-disconnect on *both* ends, made to be mounted very easily & quickly inside the glove compartment, and made so that any part of it can be removed or replaced instantly, via the quick disconnect modular connectors.
You don't even need to see it to use it - you can feel the "clicks" when rotating the ****, so all you need to know is what position it was changed to last time you changed it - or simply turn it all the way counter-clockwise to get to Program 1, and then rotate back clockwise however many clicks to get to whatever program you want to use. It's a nice modular & quick-disconnect design that installs easily.

Now in case I'm completely off base in all I said above - and that what you really want to know is, can you just change the ****** itself, the black ****? I hadn't thought of that before, but sure, I guess you could do that - we're not a source for *****, etc., but if you found a larger diameter **** that would take the same size shaft, and if it didn't care that you could not see what position it was in (because the stock **** is made and notched so you can see what position the chip is in), then sure, I suppose you could do that.

I'm not sure which you meant, but hopefully something in that info will help you get that switch mounted - it's not hard. Good luck!

I understand that and realize that that is how nearly all rotary style switches get installed. This is different in the fact that once you install the switch into the hole you've drilled the white portion indicating the mode (1-2-3-4-5) is now covered up behind whatever panel its installed into. Yes the **** will be visible and look "finished" at that point but the modes are not visible anymore. If the white part with the mode numbers imprinted on it is supposed to install on the outside with the **** then I'm wrong but that does part not slide off of my switch enabling it to be put on the outside after mounting.
All other switches I've used have a housing covering their internals and this one doesn't leaving it open to contamination and being bumped. I like the very small design however I didn't know if maybe I was missing a portion of the switch. Thanks.
