Question Tuning and warranty?

I don't know if this has been covered but...can the dealers tell if you have flashed your chip using the 1714? If so...do the really even look? What impact on the warranty would using this tuner have?
Thanks!!!

No, they can't tell the PCM's been flashed with the 1714 - there's always a P1000 code any time you flash a PCM (even an update by a dealership) of course, just because power is interrupted to the PCM - same thing happens when you disconnect the battery. But that's nothing tell-tale, and goes away on it's own in anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks of driving.

However - any time you take your vehicle in for service at a dealership, always return the tuning back to stock - whether it's under warranty or not. They may need to reflash the PCM and if so, you don't want to lose your tuning - or if there were some problem where they needed to do detailed & thorough troubleshooting, you'd always want the stock tuning installed for that - so return to stock when going in for service at a dealership is the best thing to do - under warranty or not.

Yes, these are all "basics," as we refer to them - meaning things that have been discussed here many times, as they are things that just about any vehicle owner either wants or needs to know. So you'll want to get in the habit of using the SEARCH feature here any time you ant to know something, as it's far quicker and chances are it's been asked & answered a few hundreds times already - just FYI.

By the way - it's going to be a little while before the 2005 F-150's can be tuned, that R&D is being done as we speak - as of right now, the 1714 does *not* support the 2005 F-150's, just the 2004's. It will be updated shortly for the 2005's as well, and when that happens, we'll make an announcement here. You can also shoot us an email and have us notify you automatically when the 2005 tuning is available - shoot us an email at: sales@troyerperformance.com to get on that list.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other modifications available for those trucks, feel free to drop by our web site as everything available for the 2004 is also available for the 2005, with the sole exception of the tuning products. We haven't had the time to make all the text changes to indicate the 2004 parts are also for the 2005's yet, that process takes a while - but there are plenty of other parts available now for that truck - you can also feel free to give us a cal to go over what all is available for your new 2005, if you like.

Congrats on a beautiful new truck!
