DTC Codes.....
My check engine light has come on and was looking for a little feedback. Do I need to be concerned with these codes? I'm running a 04 F-150 Lariat 4x4. I have 6500 miles. I bought the truck new. I'm using a 1714 programmer.
P0356- Ignition Coil F Primary/Sec Circ error
P0358- Ignition Coil H Primary/Sec Circ error
Thanks...
Mike any suggestion from you would be great!!

I don't understand......
Am I posting bad or improper questions? I cannot seem to get any replies. Mike, can you please answer my question. If there is a problem, I don't want to keep driving the vehicle. I bought the 1714 from your company and would hope to get some feedback. Thank you.....
It's not fair to expect Mike to give immediate (or any) replies to every post in this forum. Everyone should try to remember that this forum is not intended for 24/7 online support. If you are in urgent need (and I'd be concerned, too, if my CEL was lit) you should call Troyer Performance directly, or perhaps even better, Superchips directly.
I hope you get the problem resolved soon.
I hope you get the problem resolved soon.
I agree.....
I agree to a certain point. I've posted 2-3 threads over the past month or two with no replies. Its almost as if my posts are being seen. I only asked Mike directly because I noticed he has since replied to posts started AFTER mine. Mike does help allot of people on this site and that is why 99% of the guys/gals talk so highly of him. I simply want to know if I should be concerned with my check engine light on. The codes were given. Thanks for the thoughts though...... at least someone will posy a reply.
Thanks.....
Thanks.....
richgonfishin,
I'm glad you didn't take my post the wrong way...
How long have you had your 1714 installed? If it's been a while, and the CEL just came on recently, it might not be related to the Superchips program.
Have you tried re-setting to stock, then clearing the codes to see if the CEL comes back on...maybe it is not the tune but an issue with the coil packs?
I did a search and couldn't find any other threads that provide additional explanations for those codes.

Rich,
1.) The 1714 has nothing to do with your ignition system, or any ignition-related problems, or any problems anywhere else on the vehicle.
2.) "JohnandDar's" response was absolutely right on the money.
3.) I suggest that you read & follow your Micro Tuner's manual, paying particular attention to what it clearly points out in several places about how to get Tech Support if you think you have a problem with it. (Which is to call the manufacturer directly at the number in the manual.)
I also suggest that the next time you have a problem with your vehicle, try taking it in for proper diagnostic service - that's what you have a new vehicle warranty for. That works far better than expecting me to do all of that for you here and complaining in virtually every thread you've posted in for weeks now about how badly you're being treated, ignored, etc. when I don't come running.
I wish you well,

It's clear!!
Sorry, my post was improper and I'm removing it.

It sounds as though the problem with youre truck is an intermittent coil or wiring problem with the actual truck and not the tune. The fact that the light went out on it's own means that the problem is not now active. after a few drive cycles if the problem does not arise again the light will go out.
I would take the truck to the dealer and have them check it out , thats why you have a warrenty, don't wait to it fails you and lets you stranded.
In Mike's defense being a Ford service manager for most of my life it's imposable to diagnose a problem on the phone. I my self have a 9100 tuner with a Troyer tune and I too have had a few concerns, the first thing we tend to do is blame the tune, and Mike can be a little defensive about these things, but again I'am shure that everyone wants to blame the tune, and usualy thats not the problem.
In Mike's defense and not to get in a pissing contest with you because I think I know how you feel about the situation, Mike has always been there to help me with my problems be it his tune or a ford problem., if its an emergency he's been there imediatly to help. If its a mior problem he gets back when he can.
I don't know the man find all the time to take personal care of so many situations.
I hope you can take a deep breath and rethink the situation, Mike is a great vendor and I feel a realy caring person, although I am shure over worked and overstressed. It can be realy hard to be everything to everybody all the time.
Hope this helps you and i hope you get youre truck operating properly.

I'll be the first to admit I often jump the gun. I appologize to Mike for taking it as far as I did. I was insulted from his reply. I have posted numerous posts with no feedback from him. I called him 3-4 times and he was always busy. I had actually told his wife I thought he was pissed at me for some unknown reason. She assured me he was a very busy man. I agree, he is a great asset to this site, but I felt treated unfairly. Mike took a cheap shot and I reacted. I'm sorry if I offended him or anyone else.
I never blamed the tuner/programmer. I simply had a question that I thought would be answered and it wasn't. I posted several question directly related to the tuner/programmer, but never received any replies.
Mike, I simply was asking for a honest answer. Sorry I got hot headed. You are a great vendor and I hope you are man enough to except my appolgy.
Sorry to all.....

Hello Rich,
I have to tell you that I'm not at all pleased by your conduct - and before I will even think about accepting your apology, you'll need to edit *every* post you slammed us in, and put your apology in every one of those posts too - not buried here while all the rest of your nastiness still remains.
As you well know because you did it deliberately, you went out of your way to attack us and try to convince people not to do business with us - and you did it dishonestly, by cleverly edited your posts and claiming you took my name out, when the actual truth is you left my name all over that post in a number of places - but you know all that, because you did it. And even after the Webmaster told you to take it up with us off the boards, you deliberately defied him and went right ahead and AGAIN went on the attack posting yet ANOTHER thread attacking us.
That kind of conduct I do NOT forgive - you deliberately ignored the Webmaster's clear admonition to you, to go on the attack yet again - so you leave me no choice but to have to get point-blank with you publicly. That is unprofessional in the extreme for a vendor to have to do in an attempt to get the truth out and defend themselves against such unwarranted nasty conduct, and something I find very distasteful. I hope you're proud of yourself, son.
If you actually mean your so-called apology and genuinely want me to accept it, then start by going back and editing every post you attacked us in, and also insert your apology in every one of those posts, and *then* maybe we'll have something to talk about.
What most others here probably won't remember is that this isn't the first time - oh no, not by a long shot. Don't ever think I have forgotten how you acted the last time you hung out here - few people here realize that I have ALREADY spent somewhere between 35 and 50 HOURS typing responses to you to try to help you - I bent over *backwards* trying to help you - time and time again - yet still you continually complained and refused to call us, and I had no choice but to try to defend ourselves and have the truth be made known the last time you hung out here. I spent dozens of hours trying to teach you the fact that guessing at performance improvements from ANY modification in a 2.5-3 ton truck by the seat of the pants does not work and is not done by anyone that knows anything about performance or modifying any vehicle - I painstakingly went over with you time after time, after time, a number of easy methods to actually identify the performance of your vehicle, and how to identify the actual results of ANY performance modification, etc., etc. - yet you continually ignored all of that, harped on and on, posting the exact same thing time after time after time, in thread after thread. You ignored all of that help and continued ranting on and on - you came back and asked the same things over and over and over - sometimes 6 times or even more, on the exact same thing. You kept doing that to the point that it caused arguments, and never seemed to listen or learn from all the help that myself and numerous others here too, tried to give you.
That continued until finally a number of people got fed up with your posts and ignored you, and finally you went away. It wasn't just me that bent over backwards trying to help you, there were *numerous* people here who tried to help you, who went far above & beyond, time after time for you.
So you stayed away from here for most of the past couple of years - until just recently. Then when you showed back up again a little while ago - this time singing a different song, about how the tuner actually *did* improve your trucks' performance, etc., etc.
And despite my best judgment, which told me to just ignore you altogether and avoid a repeat of what happened last time, once again I tried to help you - I treated you as a friend, answering numerous questions. I tried to help you with your new vehicle and the questions you had with it, and even agreed to supply you with a Micro Tuner for your new truck, despite my being convinced that would be a mistake and would only cause a repeat of all that happened before, all over again. I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt and set all of that past aside, all those wasted dozens of hours I spent typing responses to you to no avail, in the hopes that maybe you had matured, and might actually become a good contributing member here. Obviously it was a mistake for me to do that, to once again bend over backwards for you - because what you did in return was try to make me your personal slave, demanding that I personally answer each and every question you could think of, and any time I didn't come running you went on the attack complaining in virtually every thread you posted in about how badly I was treating you, how you were being ignored, etc. etc., as can be seen in most of your threads/posts over the past I don't know know many weeks now. Culminating in you even daring to ignore the Webmaster's admonitions to attack us all over again!
Well, guess what? Grow up, son. Nobody is going to continually go above and beyond for someone who acts as you have acted towards me - my *only* 2 regrets in all of this are that I have done far too much for you, and that this sordid mess has been, because of your conduct, played out in public on these message boards, detracting from this great web site - a web site that my company and that I personally have spent many tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours over the years trying to help build and grow and contribute to (along with numerous other people, not the least of which is the very tolerant and forgiving Webmaster himself).
Perhaps one day you will realize that just because we sold you an inexpensive part does NOT mean that I am to be at your personal beck and call, and that I DO NOT deserve to be slammed and attacked, and that you cannot ignore the Webmaster's admonitions to continue your attacks when I choose not to play your game. Maybe one day you will realize that I am NOT responsible for your vehicle, that *you* are responsible for your vehicle as it's owner. Maybe one day you will realize that I am not going to be your personal substitute for proper diagnosis & service under warranty, and that we do NOT deserve to be subjected to your self-centered tirades when you don't get exactly what you want.
You have been told numerous times previously that Tech Support is not done here - that it is against the rules of F-150 Online for vendors to provide their customers with Tech Support here - which you promptly and continually have ignored & starting making nasty posts when I didn't come running.
So no, I'm not inclined to accept your apology - though I *will* give that serious thought once that apology posted in *every* thread you attacked us and complained about me personally in, AND once those posts are also edited to remove all such content. Personally, I don't think any of that will happen - and that being the case, I would prefer it if you just sent your Micro Tuner back and took your conduct elsewhere.
But just in case you are "man enough" to realize and admit your offensive behavior was out of line, edit your posts inserting your apology in each one and in general, try to conduct yourself like a gentleman, you just might find that I am once again willing to help you any way I can - **within reason**.
I wish you well, Rich - and good luck with your truck.

You must have me confused...
Mike, thanks for the reply, but I must say I think you are confusing me with someone else. I've never left this board. I've used it for about the last 4-5 years without stopping. I would like to see one post where I bashed you or your company. (Other than the recent mishap)
I have always passed on your name for potential customers. We had discussions in the past, but nothing that I can remember being negative. This is my 3rd F-150 since I started using this site. I bought the superchip for my 98 F-150 from you. I bought the 1715 programmer for my 02 F-150 from you. I bought my most recent 1714 from your wife. If I didn't think you guys did outstanding work.... I wouldn't of continued to purchase products from you. I even asked your wife to put me on the waiting list for the AirForce One and Electric fans. If I had issues with you... why would I continue to buy products and pass on your name?
As far as me posting after the webmaster closed the thread. I felt it was important for people to understand why I felt I deserved an answer and not a rude comment. You threw the first stone. The guy said the thread had nothing to do with the programmer. I felt it was a honest good question and didn't deserve the reply I received. I don't believe I bashed you or said anything bad about you in the post. If I did, it was because I was pissed at that time. We all jump the gun every once in awhile. We've all regretted saying something that was not call for.
As I mentioned.... you and your wife are great. I truely believe what has happened is you've confused me with someone else and we both acted bad. I did try try and call you, but each time you were busy. I told your wife... its almost as if he's pissed off at me. She assured me you were just busy. I couldn't speak to you... you seemed to to ignore my posts... what was I supposed to think?
I admit, I acted out of anger with my posts. I WAS WRONG and feel bad for the way I acted. I truely appologize for my behavior. Please understand why I acted the way I did. I felt I posted a simple question with no reply. I finally received a reply and you insulted me. I DO NOT remember ever saying anything negative about you or your way of doing business. Matter of fact, I've given either your website or number to numerous people over the past couple of years.
I don't know what else to say. I appologize for my rude recent posts. At the time of posting them I felt it was deserved. Now that I look back, I over reacted and was totally out of line.
Last but not least.... I'm NOT calling you liar regarding any prior negative post regarding you or your company. I really think you've confused me with someone else. I'd like to move forward and start from scratch. If you feel you cannot do this..... I'm sorry to hear it.
Thanks for taking the time to read my reply.....
BTW- I am very impressed with the 1714. In the beginning I had questions, but it seems as if the programmer & truck are now working hand in hand.
Please tell your wife hello and I'm sorry for acting so nasty.

I guess.....
jpdadeo-
I guess since you're the head cook at McDonald's, you'll never become a vendor. I'm not interested in what you'd do. LOL
We all make mistakes, but only a man can admit when he's wrong.
Good Luck becoming a vendor.....

Mike......
Mike, I've gone back and deleted the any negative comments in the recent posts. I've emailed the webmaster and have asked him to delete the thread titled Read this or you could be NEXT!!
I've read your entire thread a couple times. I agree with allot of it. I also still believe you have me confused with someone else. Until my recent meltdown.... I've always appreciated your willingness to help.
I hope I've satisified you with my appology. I've made it public that I was the one who was wrong.
Anyone and everyone.... Mike and his company and great people. They provide a great service and great products.
Sorry to all...., but especially Troyer Performance.
Please no more bashing.... I really don't need coments from people like jpdadeo. I am self employed and a vendor. I know firsy hand how customers can be. Usually the customer is right, but in this case.... the Vendor (Troyer Performance) was right and me being the customer was wrong.
I'd like to be a positive contributer on this forum.
