Lengthening Flip chip wire

I would like to splice more wire into the length supplied with the chip, so I could mount it closer to the driver's seat. Has anyone done this or can it be done safely? If so, must I first take the chip off of the PCM?

Also, can I change the toggle switch out? TIA.

Sure, you can do all of that - but first, you do need to disconnect the battery, and then remove the chip from the PCM - then you can extend the lead, change the switch, etc. You do not have to remove the PCM to remove the chip - once the chip has been installed, yo can remove & replace the chip very quickly & easily, so don't let that throw you - the PCM only needed to come out for the INITIAL installation, so you could clean the connector.

Also - use the same gauge of wiring to extend the lead. Normally there is no reason to change that switch, it's a very good mini-toggle switch that works fine. But if you do change that switch, make sure the new one is wired correctly - take a good look at (draw a diagram, take a few digital pics, or whatever) the connections so you know the orientation, which contacts are connected, etc.

Good luck!
