Shift Firmness?

I just bought a S-Cab Lariat and I want a little more performance and throttle response but I don't want the truck to shift real firm. Can I set the Superchips tuner so the shifts are slightly firm but not real noticeable?

You can adjust the firmness down, but I have never done it, so I don't know how low it will go.

The standard program is not harsh unless you floor it, then it snaps, but during normal driving it is a very subtle difference.

I would have to agree with rbraughn .In normal driving the shift firmness is not harsh at all.Not much diffrent than stock.

Form optimum shifting, select the Superchips settings. If thats to firm, you can try lowering them a few each and find what suits you best.

Hi John,

Yes, you sure can - but we recommend using the "Superchips" settings as they are still nice & smooth on part-throttle, they don't get appreciably "harder" until you are at heavy throttle - it's a very linear & progressive calibration that almsot everyone loves. The shift firmness level is controlled by your right foot - the more throttle you give it, the firmer the shift - just as it should be.

We strongly recommend setting it up using the "Superchips" settings for shift points and shift firmness levels, and drive it that way for at least a month before even thinking about any manual changes - they are very rarely needed. But they're there for anyone who feels they want to make those kinds of adjustments - that's the whole idea, you can taper it to how you like it.

Good luck!

Just got home and installed the 87 octane program.(super tuner came today) I haven't been out and really tested it out, but I took my wife out for a ride. I'm very pleased with the shifting in particular. The throttle hesitation doesn't occur any more either...Kevin
