Mikey Or Anyones Eles ????????
Hi Fellas,
Neal, you did very well not throwing tools around - that's usually a must in most of your more involved projects, congratulations!
Dropping the tranny in 45 minutes in the driveway (or the garage, with no lift, etc.) is pretty darned good...............
The weight of Neal's truck is amazing, especially considering where it started out at - heck, my Lightning weighs 800 lb more than his 5.4 automatic truck does!

Mike,
You do not want to know about some of the braces on the frame that are no longer part of the vehicle.
If I see him trying to swiss cheeze the frame I promise that I will stop him.

Hi JMC,
You know, in all these years we've been supplying the hot-rod parts & tuning for both your truck and Neal's, I have yet to get a chance to actually meet you guys & see both of your vehicles in person. So no, I don't know what all Neal has done to lighten that thing up - yes, by all means please do stop him if it looks like the swiss cheese syndrome is setting in.
BTW - congratulations on your 4.6 to 5.4 engine swap!!!
Your new tuning is on it's way, of course. It didn't get out in time for Monday, it left here Tuesday - so I'm thinking you'll probably see it next Tuesday. Anita emailed you a tracking number, so you can see just what's up with it & when it should arrive, etc.
Have fun!

HI!... *UPDATE*
Well according to UPS my converter arrived back at P.I on FRIDAY. MIKE T. called me today and notified me that P.I will be exchanging my 10.5 inch STALLION converter for a 9.5 inch due to my truck is too light for the 10.5 inch and the stall I want. So hopefully I will see my NEW 9.5 inch converter sometime towards 10 days or so. I'm going nuts without my ride!!!!!!

Mike,
The chip arrived on Friday. Talk about fast..... Still checking for codes every day.
Got a few lean ones but it is due to exhaust leaks, 4.6 exhaust system 5.4 headers.

HI!... *UPDATE* Well the P.I converter showed up MONDAY morning sometime. UPS guy left it on the porch.... woohoo!!!! NO brokrage or duty fees, gotta luv it lol!
Anyway JMC and I had the stall and tranny back in, in about 35 minutes. Got to luv those air tools.
Runs great and NO leaks this time.
Anyway this has got to be the BEST mod I have done to my truck yet. Sorry MIKE but it even beat out the SUPERCHIP! lol! This frickin thing just launches like a *****!!!!! Forget about flashing the converter on the street. If I do it just obliterates the 305/45/R-18 NITTO drag radials, even with 25PSI in them. No matter what the gear, you hit it and it's in the power. I found the best way to launch this thing so far is to leave at about 1200RPM and ROLL into the throttle quickly. It seems to break tq to about 2400RPM before it wants break the rear tires loose. It flashes about 2800-3000RPM. So it perfect right now. It's rained the last two days here at night, so I hav'nt had much time to really test it out.
MIKE we will have to do those converter lock up adjustments soon. I'm also getting a NX 50h.p - 150H.P nitrous kit next week so we will have to do another custom program for that too. I will only be using a 50H.P shot on this engine. We'll have to set up one for nitrous and 94 octane and one for 100 octane. I got two brand new NX nitrous bottles off ebay on MONDAY for a steel. The kit I'm looking at also has two bottles in the kit. You can never have too much juice!!! LOL!

Mike,
I need dark sunglasses when I am Neal's truck now. The grin, from ear to ear, is so bright that an oncoming car flashed his hi-beams thinking Neal's were on. And that was in broad daylight!

i just realized that PI is also the company that makes the vigilante convertor that all the gm guys are raving about. It is hard to believe but this convertor, in a best case, can drop 1/2 a second in a quarter mile. this is also a case of get what you pay for.
mike or anyone else, do you now what is the recommended stall for a stock geared (3.55) f150. i would guess 2200 to 2500. i dont think the lightning guys are seeing the hugh gains from it because they make hugh lowend anyway, but on a n/a, or turbo or centrifgal s/c, i would imaging the gains are big.

Hi BrotherDave,
Nice to see you again!
Yeah, we've been telling people for years about PI's torque converters, it's the only TQ I'll run in my truck - and yes, at best, with a good company you get what you pay for, absolutely.
For stall speed, just a general & loose rule of thumb is, you want the stall speed rating to be about 500 rpm below the torque peak for best acceleration times - so a 4.6 needs more stall speed than a 5.4, for example.
It also depends on if the truck needs to retain heavy towing capabilities, it's primary use (like in Neal's case, what he cares about is all-out acceleration, period), etc.
We have seen PI converters drop as much as 7 tenths off the 1/4 mile times of these heavy trucks, but I would say the average is more like 4-5 tenths - which is a *lot* of ET to drop in a 2-3 ton truck!
The best thing is, the PI converters are still very *tight* - my PI in my truck feels just like a stock converter until you nail the throttle - it's very tight, tight lockup, no typical looseness as you usually see with higher stall speed TQ's, the shifts aren't any softer, we don't lose mph in trap speed in the 1/4 mile, etc. But when you nail the throttle, hang on, as it'll gain rpms like it *never* could at *any* power level before.
On the Lightnings, you can still get 3-4 tenths off the 1/4 mile times from a PI converter - you just have to have the *traction* available to actually make proper use of the converter - and it takes more than just a set of slicks, or the typical slapper bars - the rear suspension needs some real help to properly plant the tire into the pavement and nail the short times.
The PI converter for these FoMoCo's is called the "Stallion," then for the GM's it's the "Vigilante," for the Mopar's it's the "Viper," and for many imports it's the "Dragon," etc. - PI has many applications, and they're simply the best - we have *never* had one fail.
For anyone that wants one, just give us a call, we're a WD for PI.

Hi Neal,
I told you you'd love that PI converter!
With the very light weight of your truck, and the fact that it's going to be even lighter, we had to use the 9.5" unit for you - PI was very gracious when the 10.5" unit turned out to be too tight for your truck's weight (we didn't realize it was *that* light) - they had no problem with it, they stepped right up and built a new custom 9.5" unit for your complete specs, & nailed it.
Talk to you soon,
