Mike - Clarify Electric Fan & Under Pulleys
OK, I've read your site about the pulleys and Fans, But still need some clarifications.
The Dual Electric Fans-
I have a stock 2003 Supercrew with a 5.4L engine and a 1715 MT? Will it still idle at 650 RPM? It does have the towing package so I guess it has the 130 amp alternator.
I have a 9000lb Warn winch that I very seldom run and I do spend a fair amount of time (10%) on rough roads in four wheel drive.
Since this fan arrangement mounts to the radiator core (I think based on something I read in another post) will it stand up to my use on rough roads?
The Under Pulleys-
I don't understand where the improvement comes from by installing the under pulleys. Is there any loss of ground clearance with them?
My questions probably highlight that I don't know what I'm talking about here yet, but ..... that's where we all start right?
Thanks as always,
Tom Hall

Tom,
I have a Warn XD9000i winch and the electric fans. If you plan on using the winch do not get the pulleys. What they do is slow down the accessories so they consume less power. If you slow down the alternator you will need more engine speed to recharge the battery when you winch. As far as the electric fans coming off the rad, trust me when I say they will not. I paly off road, hard, and they are still held on. If you play on going through water I strongly suggest you invest in a master cut off switch so you do not run the fans in water. If you play in the mud you will need a switch to turn on the fan so it can fling the mud off the blades. If you do not you risk having a lump of mud cake on the blade and upsetting the balance and possibly casuing damage to the rad. I have both the master off and the individual on switches that bypass the the controllers.
