1715 tuner

I just recieved the 1715 tuner. I oredred it from Troyer, first off let me say great service, best I've seen in some time. Got the tuner in just two days. Ordered on Monday had it in my hands on Wednesday.

I have not yet installed the tune. I have a bad DPFE sensor, and want to replace it first. (just got the sensor and new hoses tonight) Also I want to run all the 87 octane out of the engine, as I want to install one of the performance tunes, and don't want to bother with the 87 octane tune.

Anyhow on to my question. I am aware I shouldn't tow with the "MAX" performance tune, but what about loading up the bed of the truck? I assume this should also not be done with the MAX tune. Is this correct? Should I change to the tow performance when loading up the bed? I'm guessing I should just to be safe.

This has been asked many times before, and every time Mike has responded with "you can load the truck up to its rated load capacity" WITH OUT switching back from MAX to the tow mode. Just NEVER hook anything to the ball without reprogramming to tow mode.

The "search feature" (upper right hand corner of screen) of this board will bring up about any possible question you could think of, I use it all the time.

Good luck with your tuner! You'll like it!

Hi 02,

Gene's (triumphman) kind response is right on the money - on the maximum performance tune in the 1715, you can still load the vehicle itself up to it's rated capacity - in the cabin, in the bed, etc. You just can't tow with it.

The difference between that tune and the "tow-perf" premium gas tow-safe program is primarily in the A/F ratios - the towing program has richer A/F's to keep the EGT's down when towing heavy loads, especially up a long grade, etc. It makes about 6-8 HP less at the wheels than the maximum performance premium gas tune does.

So feel free to load the vehicle up on board with the max perf tune, & have fun!
