Super Chip Overheating?
I just finished reading about how ford gauges are not accurate, and that due to this it is not possible to get any kind of readings other than extreme.
If you can’t tell what you motor is “really doing” then how do you know that a performance chip is not making you motor run hotter.
In the past I had heard that performance chips made the old 5.0 mustangs run hot and a bigger radiator was needed.
If the ford gauges don’t show changes that what the *******, how do you guys who have performance chips know that it isn’t hurting you engine?
Does any owner know for a fact that their engine is not running hotter?
Would this also apply to oil pressure?
An excellent question!

HI!... The SUPERCHIP DOES NOT effect oil preasure or engine temp. I have both a oil preasure guage and engine temp guage in my truck and have NEVER seen an increase in either. Actually I did notice that my engine temp dropped about 5 degree's after I installed my SUPERCHIP.

Hi 2001,
Just so you'll know, the Superchip does *not* make your engine run hotter than it normnally does without it. If it had any tendency to do that, with all the people using them this section would be flooded with those kinds of posts, and of course, we don't see those kinds of posts here for one simple reason, because that doesn't happen.
While these are not the most accurate gauges in the world certainly, these gauges are not so inaccurate that you cannot tell an increase in coolant temperature. The fact that they are not the most precise gauges does *not* automatically mean that they are completely useless and will only tell you the extremes. In fact, it's very easy to see what your temperature gauge does, how it reacts, etc., from the time you first start your vehicle when cold, and as it warms up, you clearly see the gauge start from the bottom and slowly come up to normal operating temperature, unless the gauge is actually broken, in which case that will be obvious. And it's also easy to see when you're running abnormally warm as well, these gauges are accurate enough to see that. You can easily verify that by spending some time observing your own gauge from cold start to full operating temperature, and you will also notice that there is a *range* as well.
This is a very basic issue, the Superchip is *not* going to make your engine run hotter.
It's true that these gauges, like most factory gauges, are not very expensive, and don't give you exact temperature readouts of course, and there are certainly more accurate gauges, thanks to the aftermarket. But they are accurate enough to tell whether you're running hotter than normal, we drive nothing but FoMoCo vehicles here and not one of them has a temperature gauge so inaccurate that you can't tell if you're running hotter than "normal".
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call.
