Post superchip for 2001?

Hello Mike,
I have a fairly new truck, its only have 750 mile on it I would like to gain more hp,is it wise to put in a superchip in it this early?

Is your superchip pretty easy to install?

I know ford f150 have a slight rough idle to them, will it improved my idle quality?

I plan to install a Gibson Dual Sport Cat-Back System later, will i have to send the super chip back to have it reprogramed?

Are there different kind of Superchip you provide?

Will I lose any Low-end power?

I own a 2001 F-150 XLT, 4x4 with Off-Road
4.6 /Automatic / Ext.Cab /3.55 Limted.
The only mod have is a K&N Filter.

Please reply. Thanks

Hi Silverblade,

We generally suggest putting at least 300-500 miles on a brand new vehicle before doing any modifications, just enough so that you know there are no immediate problems with your new vehicle that require service before reliable operations can be established. That doesn't happen often of course. So at 750 miles, you can do whatever modifications you want to.

The Superchip is easy enough to install that just over 98% of our customers do their own installations, and the documentation & instructions are very thorough, and written to take a first-time installer thru this with no surprises.

We do hear back from a lot of our customers that their idle quality smooths out noticeably, but in all honesty we don't specifically change anything to do that deliberately, it seems to just be a by-product of the changes made to the fuel curves to accommodate the slower burn rate of premium gas. So your idle may or may not get smoother with the Superchip, is the most accurate answer we can give you.

You do not need any compensations (custom programming) for minor bolt-on mods such as K&N air filters, airbox elimination kits, exhaust system changes, etc. That is only required when doing things like superchargers, nitrous oxide, ported cylinder heads, camshaft changes, gear ratio changes, and also if you change the mass airflow meter. Also, the Superchip is a flash module design, so it can always be updated later on if you ever do those types of changes.

We offer both a single-program and a dual-program Superchip. The single-program Superchip, which is what most people here are using, requires the use of premium gas. The 2-program Superchip Flip Chip can be configured with one program for 87 and the other for 92 octane, and that is becoming more and more popular with Ford truck owners. Keep in mind that the power gain will be very small on 87 octane, no more than 3-5 horsepower, however, thanks to other improvements to the program such as removing transitional retards & delays, the truck will still accelerate quicker and respond better on the 87 octane program, and then when you want maximum power, you can fill it up with premium & flip the switch to change to the performance program for premium gas.

No, you will not lose any low-end power from installing the Superchip, you will *gain* low-end power, and in fact, you will gain more power at any throttle position above idle.
