Post Redline, Shift Point and Overrevving?

I just installed my Superchip last night and after driving it a couple of miles to make sure it was really in there, I had something happen that concerns me.

The truck now has no problem sweeping the tach in no time at all and on oue pull I think I was in first gear and revved it to about 5000 rpm...feeling this was too high for my comfort and not knowing if there is a rev limiter and/or redline for the 4.6 Triton, I backed out of it slightly in hopes of getting an upshift to second but I apparently got back into it too soon and the tranny seemed as if it was in neutral or between gears and revved to, what I could catch in a blink of an eye, about 5500rpm. It sounded funny like it was floating the valves or like it was hitting a rev-limiter.

Question 1, Did I smoke my motor doing this?
Question 2, Is there a redline and would it be different under load compared to freewheeling as far as damage to components?
Question 3, Is there a rev-limiter?
Question 4, Under the right conditions should I be able to just stand on the throttle from a dead stop and go through the gears without lifting and without breaking anything?
Question 5, Am I just worrying too much about nothing?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

By now we've already spoken over the phone about all this, so we'll just touch on this very briefly.........

You are fully protected by your rev limiter, we never remove a rev limiter, so you cannot do anything to overspeed that engine, nor have you "smoked" your motor, you'd *know* if you had. As a matter of fact, we have customers spinning them to 6500 rpm with no problems, though you're well down on power at that point if the engine is stock, so we don't allow them to rev that high except in a custom program.
