Cool Superchip to get back torque from tire switch?

Just scrapped my stock 235 70R 16's for Goodrich 265 70R 16's. These Fords look HOT when you put some rubber in the wheel wells!!!
Unfortunately, as we all know, the price to pay is a loss of power from the final drive ration change. If I did my math right I lost about 9% torque.
While I understand that a Superchip is not a supercharger or NO2 setup, how much of this can I expect to get back if I install one? I like the "designed with towing vehicles in mind" idea associated with the Superchip as I pull a 4,000 lb boat/trailer.
My wallet says a $1200+ gear change is not possible right now, but a chip can be done : )

O.K.....So I can't type either! The new Goodrich AT's I put on are 265 75R 16's NOT 70's. I guess my signature IS right!

I strongly recommend the chip for its performance benefits...but it will not make up for the tire switch. The problem is that your truck is not getting up to the torque band like it used to.

Only gears (or maybe a pd blower) will fix that (specially when towing). I like my chip but love my gears.

Hi Dice4me,

Welcome to F-150 Online, & thanks for a humorous post!

It's like others responded, while the Superchip will help by adding more power at any throttle position, it cannot change the fact that the engine is now turning fewer rpms, and thus it's having to labor a bit below it's actual power curve.

Some people are able to get enough additional performance from the Superchip to allow them to live with this and not have to do a gear ratio change. That will depend on just how much total difference in tire height is involved, and your own personal perception, of course. You may find it does enough for you to be able to live with it, and if so, then you're money ahead of the game, so to speak.

Usually you can increase tire height by about 2 inches or so over stock, and get away with it, except in the Offroad packages, as they have the tallest tires from the factory, and if you change them by much more than 1 inch with the Offroad package's taller stock tires, that's about the limit that most people seem to be able to "tolerate" without having to do a gear ratio change, just to give you a rough idea of other's experiences with this.

You do need to get your speedoemeter recalibrated, which will automatically bring your shift points back in line where they should be and which we can do in some of these codes, so what I would suggest is to just give us a quick call, and let's go over all of this in detail, ok? Our contact info is just below, and we're happy to speak with you about this.
