Post superchip ordered

Well, I just ordered my superchip and had it overnighted becuase I am an impatient SOB. I have read many posts on here about intallation. Here is what I have put together on the process.

1.) Remove cover on computer (not sure of location of this.. HELP!!)
2.) Clean contacts with small flat screwdriver and alcohol.
3.) Plug in chip.
4.) Enjoy performance upgrade.

Is this correct? Also, I need help with the location of where to plug the thing in. I am not used to these computerized vehicles since the only vehicle of mine I worked on was my 65 mustang. Any help is appreciated.

Hey Sprhck, I got my chip last Friday and I will post this link because I think it list all the problems you can run into.
https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001644.html The instructions that come with it are excellent and Mike T is always there to support you. I took my battery out to do the install, just made life easier and less frustrating. Be sure to set aside about 2 hours for install and take you time, I too can be impatient but in this case it will get you nowhere but more frustrated. On a final note when they say those contacts have to be clean, make sure they are spotless! If you want to see what it looks like installed, ahve a look at the link for my pics, there is one there. The cover that will come of you can see there, it is the side showing. All you have to do is remove the little bolts and it comes of. Makes it easier to clean the contacts. Good luck with the install, pls let us know how it goes!

Hi sprhck,

If you ordered the Superchip here in our online system, you will get a lot more than just the manufacturer's installation instructions, as we write a lot of additional documentation specific to the F-150, that goes over everything you asked about and a lot more.

So you'll have complete instructions that will come from us with your Superchip on where to find the computer, how to remove it for the first-time installation, how to clean the connector, and everything else, from A to Z. We write that documentation to take a first-time installer thru this with no surprises, so as long as you read & follow the documentation, you should have a smooth installation.

If you would like to go over any of these details, please feel free to give us a call, and we'll be happy to go over all of that with you. Since you had it overnighted, all of that will arrive tomorrow anyway, but you're welcome to call us if you'll feel more comfotable, we're always happy to help.

Also, after reading all of the included documentation, if you stll have any questions about any part of the installation process or anything else, then just give us a call, and we'll go over any questions you may have.

Well, got my chip and installed it last night, took about an hour and a half. Was wet out so I couldn't really get on it but I could easily feel the firmer shifts. The instructions were very straight forward. Only thing was I had to do some creative mounting to get the computer back in. But, started up first time. I am leaving work early today (since we actually have some sun in this state for once) and trying this thing out.

Hi sprhck,

Glad to hear you've got it installed and are enjoying it.

You're right, if the roads are wet after installation, it's hard to get on it and play with it to see the difference without a lot of tire-spinning on wet pavement.

Hope your roads dry out so you can have a fun weekend!

Well, got some dry days to go out and play with this thing and wow. What a difference. This thing is great. Ford should start making these standard on their vehicles.
