I was thinking a complete dash cluster made up of all the readings from the Scanguage would be neat. But, I would probably crash from reading all the different guages instead of watching the road.

I would bet the insides of the box could be put into something to mount in the windshield pillar.

I just tried to hold the trip button down then turned the car to the on ACC position and sure enough it said, test guages. Thats what my 04 mustang does. You can cycle through, test bulbs, test needles, and see how much gas is left, speed readings and tach readings and they have all the codes to see if anything is wrong with your car. I think its like these things you are all talking about but its free for me since its on the cluster. You should all check it out.

My 97 has analog gauges and no such provisions for diagnostic gauge functions. I think that 98s are the same too.

That little gizmo is looking better and better evryday.

One of the reasons I bought the Scanguage is that the 97 that I have does not give all those neat readings like the 99 and up does.

I have been thinking about the electric fans from Mike Troyer and this way I can get an accurate reading to set the fan on temperature.

I got my Scanguage last Thursday. The only thing I don't like is the looks and no great place to put it. I was thinking I might be able to pull the box apart and see if I can mount it in the free space about my Alphine head unit. Not sure yet if there is enough room but that would sure make it look better.

Looks like there are only four screws holding whatever is in the box. I have a center console from an Expedition and the Cap[tains Chairs so I have a place to set mine.

With all the accolades for the Scangauge, I went out and ordered one too. When I received it two days later, I plugged it in took it for a quick spin. I’m pleased with all the data it is giving me.

Took the truck to work the other day and got 19.1 mpg going 65 mph. On the way home, I slowed down to little over 60 and got 19.5 for the entire trip including the trip into work. I even did a couple of full throttle starts to watch the Scanguage monitor the engine.

The only thing I don’t like about the Scangauge is the connector for the OBD II port. I’ve got a Superchips "MAX" Micro Tuner and OBD II connector for it is top notch. The connector for the scangauge is definitely cheaper and is not finished to the same standards as the Micro Tuner connector. On the Scangauge, the back of connector is not sealed and there are empty pins in the connector. They are not needed, but the open back and empty pins make the connector look a little cheaper.

Just my two cents. I am thinking about getting another for my wife’s Focus. I know she needs and wants to see all data from the engine!
