Oh yes!! I had one on my 97F150 4.6 V8 that really got that truck moving. Now have one on my PSD. Just the thought of having to pull it out and drive without it makes me depressed.
I see you too have 4x4, K&N and 40series Flowmaster. I too had those (love the sound of that 40series) on my 97. And I added the chip after having those items. Get the chip, you really wont believe how much your engine will improve unless you do. Also, have you changed your spark plugs yet?? I added BOSCH +4's The don't add any HP but my truck ran smoother after installing them.

StevensBlack4X4,

The Superchip is absolutley worth every cent! You will love the difference in your truck. I had mine out for a week or so and hated to drive the truck without it. Don't listen to the naysayers out there. Ask Mike Troyer if you have any questions, you can get his e-mail off his responses in this topic. He can answer all your questions and will do so truthfully. My 72 year old Dad liked what it did for my truck so much he put one in his Crown Vic.

The Superchip has been more than worth it to me! My truck is much more responsive and shifts so much better than before. I highly recommend the investment!

StevensBlack4x4: are you asking about the chip I now have or about the one I had on my 97?? Both of them came from right here on this site. The Superchip!! Check out any replies from Mike Troyer. I simply e-mailed him. He's great to work with and he wont steer you wrong. As far as what kind of superchip I have, There's only one kind for the 97 F150. It will be tuned for just your truck though. Now on my PSD, Superchips makes 3 different chips for it. I have the standard one because I use the truck to pull a 30'travel trailer. I could have got either of the other two but would have needed to upgrade my air intake and exhaust. I hope somewhere in this post that I answered your question

I, too, recommend the Superchip. Although it does have a downside, having to run (very expensive) premium fuel, the benefits in better shifting and a bit more usable mid-range power are more than worth the extra cost.

Also, Mike is wonderful to work with, and was a great help to me when I was in your position a couple of months ago.

Try it - you'll like it!

Thumbs up on the Superchip! If you want to use regular gas most of the time you can get a chip that has two programs on it. One for regular, one for premium. Then if you need to switch you can. The one for regular gas will improve the shifting, the one for premium gas is for performance and shifting. Call Mike Troyer for the BEST info

Hi StevensBlack4X4,

As you can see from the responses, most of the people using the Superchip are pretty happy with the results. Tina used the Superchip first in her F-150, and now she has a big Powerstroke diesel Super Duty truck, and she's using the Superchip in that vehicle, too.

For your 4,6 F-150, the maximum rated gains from the Superchip at sea level altitude are 26 hp & 40 lbs./ft. Basically, you can figure that you're going to pick up about a 10%-12% power gain over what you're making now in your F-150. It will also work just fine with your K&N air filter and the exhaust changes, too.

We have an online ordering system for the Superchip right here, and you can access it by simply clicking on the link just below in our signature line. If you'd like to get more details, etc., please feel free to give us a call, we're always happy to help.

Hi Stevens,

With the single-program Superchip that most people here are running, you have to use premium gas. Any performance chip that actually increases power is going to require premium gas, as you can't get significant power gain via powertrain programming unless you increase the octane significantly and tune specifically for it.

We also have a 2-program Superchip Flip Chip that we can configure with 2 programs, one for regular and the other for premium, so you can use premium when you want to at the flip of a switch. Just remember that you're only going to get the engine power increase when running on premium gas. The way we set the Flip Chip up for these F-150's in that case is to have a pair of programs that are identical, except on one side of the chip it's tuned for 87 octane. That way you get better shifting in the automatics, removal of transitional spark retards, etc. in either program, so the vehicle will still feel a bit peppier even on the regular gas program in the Flip Chip, but the real power gain comes with the premium gas program.

If you'd like details, please just give us a shout, our contact info is below.
