Post Mike- some questions for ya

Thanks mike for your post. I really WANT the superchip but i think i can get this one for about $50, so it makes the deal semi-sweet. I do have some questions about the Superchip though.
1) How much for one that'll fit my truck
2) If i switch gears does chip need modifying?
3) In my truck, with the larger tires, will the Superchip still enhance the shift points? ('Cause those are pretty sloppy right now)
4) What kind of power increase can i expect on 87 octane? With the 4.6l, am i really gonna get over 20hp, 30 lb-ft?

I guess thats it, thanks again for your reply...

Hi Brandon!

1.)For exact pricing, please just shoot us a quick email or give us a call, our contact info is just below. We ask this simply so that we can comply with F-150 Online's Werbmaster policies of not discussing exact pricing issues here on the message boards, to keep them free of what is considered "blatant commerical content", and thanks for understanding on this. You can also click on the link we have below in our signature line, as it will take you to our online ordering system here, so you can see those numbers. Again, thanks for your understanding on this, as we want to keep the Webmaster happy!

2.) Nope, you just have to change the reduction gear in the tailshaft of your transmission, and that will restore speedometer accuracy, which automatically restores shift points, etc. We only need to change the program for gear ratio changes in the 1999 & newer F-150s, generally speaking.

3.) I don't know how tall your tires are, but the Superchip always takes care of the automatic transmission shift characteristics, removing the delays, quickening and firming the upshifts, etc. If your tire height has increased by about 2 inches or more, you really should do a gear ratio change to get your engine back up to turning enough rpms so that it's not lugging below it's torque curve anymore.

4.) Maybe 2-5 hp at best. You *cannot* increase engine power via powertrain programming without re-tuning the engine specifically for the use of premium gas. In reality, we can sometimes pick up as much as 2-4 or even 5 horsepower when we tune for 87 in a 2-program Flip Chip, which is the only way we will make a Superchip for use with regular gasoline, but that's it, no more. So if you want to increase engine power with the Superchip, which is the single best bang-for-the-buck power gainer for these vehicles short of nitrous, it's basically only going to happen when you use premium gas.

If you'd like to go over any of this in detail, please feel free to give us a call.
