Question hey Mike...diff chip for 5.4L Expi w/ 4.10's and 35's?

Hey Mike,
If I choose to re-gear my truck in the future, will I need a new Superchip proggy? I've got 35's on my 4x4 Expi (5.4L)and am debating whether to re-gear it now or later. What gearing would you recommend for such a set-up?

Thanks,
ronb.

Hi Ron,

With 35" tires and a 3.55 gear ratio originally, I would recommend using a 4.56 gear set as it will most cloaely match your original configuration. I actually like to see a little bit "extra" gear put in to also help compensate for the additional weight of the tires, but it's not required and that's up to you. The 4.56's will work just fine.

In a situation such as yours, where, if I understand it correctly, you already have the Superchip and the 35" tires, and you're thinking of changing the gear ratio to 4.56's to compensate for those 35" tires, that shouldn't require any change in the program, as that will basically restore the speedo accuracy to the way it was originally with the stock tires size, etc. Or if you haven't gotten the Superchip yet, you do not need a custom program in it to compensate for the 4.56 gears, since you have the 35" tires, as the 4.56's are once again just compensating for the 35" tires.
