Superchip and Steeda Shift Improvement Valve
I will be taking delivery of 2001 Supercrew, 5.4L, next week. Have read 90% good items about Superchips relating to shift points and firmness & performance.
Steeda Autosports claims to have a shift improvement valve for the E40D transmission; installs in one hour (we've heeard that before!).
Question: Are the Superchip and this valve compatible? Will they compliment each other? Will EO4D suffer a meltdown?

Hi Chucky,
They'll work fine together, Superchips works directly with Steeda and has for years now.
What we usually suggest, if you haven't done this already, is before anyone decides to use a shift kit, or anything else in the way of a mechanical modification to the automatic transmission if you're using the Superchip too, is to use the Superchip by itself for about 30 days or so, long enough so that you have a good feel for exactly how it shifts in all situations, so you can decide if you want more or not, as the Superchip improves the shift quality quite a bit, removing all of the upshift & downshift delay signals in the factory program, as well as increase line pressure, etc. For the vast majority of people, the Superchip alone does enough to improve overall shift characteristics to satisfy almost everyone. It really all gets down to just how firm you want the upshifts, if you want them to be extremely hard, that can be easily done in a custom Superchip program too, so you don't have to modify the transmission mechanically, it's all up to you.
If you want to use both, they'll work fine together, you're going to have noticeably firm upshifts that are quick & tight.
If you'd like to go over this is a bit more detail, talk about exactly how you want it to shift, etc., just give us a call, we're always happy to go over all the details with you, so you can give it some thought.
Good luck with your truck,
